EASY BROWN SUGAR-MUSTARD GLAZE
You're about to have another go-to recipe to give any routine meal a flavorful step up. Made from common ingredients you probably have on hand, this deceptively simple Brown Sugar-Mustard Glaze for ham adds deep, complex flavor to a baked ham dish. Made from brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard and pineapple juice, brush the glaze over the ham in the last 45 minutes to caramelize the surface. Soon you'll be adding this mustard glaze for a ham to grilled or baked pork chops or pork roast, too. It's the perfect touch of sweetness and kick of flavor.

EASY BROWN SUGAR AND HONEY GLAZED HAM RECIPE [+ AIR FRYER HAM]

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Line baking dish or roasting pan with foil.
- Use a knife to score a 1-inch diamond pattern over the whole ham, allowing more surface area for the glaze. Place ham in baking dish with some water to cover bottom of pan, no more than 1/4-inch of water.
- Cover ham with foil and plan to bake until ham reaches 140 degrees F with thermometer inserted into thickest part, about 15-20 minutes per pound, depending on the type and size of ham. (See Timetable for Cooking Ham for detailed cooking time estimates.) Glazing will happen during the last 30 minutes or so of baking time.
- As the last 30 minutes of baking time approaches, brown the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat, until it begins to turn golden brown and aromatic. Swirl it around in the pan occasionally to help it brown evenly. Stir in the brown sugar, honey, mustard, cinnamon, and cloves. Stir until sugar is dissolved, about 2 minutes. Reduce heat to low and add the garlic. Cook for a minute or two until it becomes fragrant and just begins to simmer. Right as it begins to simmer, remove from heat and set aside. As it cools, it will become the consistency of a thick honey.
- Remove ham from oven about 30 minutes before done and increase oven temperature to 425 degrees F. Brush or spoon 1/3 of the glaze over the ham. Bake uncovered for 10 minutes. Brush or spoon another 1/3 of the glaze and some pan juices, then bake another 10 minutes. Repeat with pan juices, remaining glaze, and bake.
- Ham is done when internal temperature reaches 140 degrees F. Broil for 2-5 minutes if you want more of a glaze crust, but don't let it burn. Let ham rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
- Follow all directions from above, but cook covered ham at 350˚ for 20 minutes in air fryer. Then remove foil and add glaze and cook for 10 more minutes. Slice and add more glaze, cook for 2-5 more minutes, if desired, and enjoy!

BROWN SUGAR AND MUSTARD HAM GLAZE
This is a recipe that my mother used to use for her holiday baked ham. It is a wonderful sweet and sour glaze. The best part is that you can adjust it to be sweeter by using more brown sugar or sour by using more mustard.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
- Remove the ham from its packaging. Let it rest for 1 hour at room temperature.
- Add enough water to cover about ½ to ¾ inch of a large pan with a roasting rack. Place the roasting rack on top and place the ham on top of the roasting rack, flat side down. Seal the roasting pan tightly with aluminum foil, and bake for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, or 10-12 minutes per pound.
- Make the glaze (do this 20 minutes before ready to glaze): in a saucepan over medium heat, combine all the brown sugar glaze ingredients, and stir to combine as it melts. Adjust the flavors as needed (for example, add more vinegar for more acidity, or more spices for more flavor). Reduce to a simmer, and simmer for 6-8 minutes until it's a bit thickened, stirring often. Set aside.
- Remove the ham from the oven and carefully remove the foil. Increase the oven temperature to 400 degrees F.
- Brush the ham with glaze, and then return to the oven and bake for 7-8 minutes, uncovered. Repeat this step 2 more times until caramelized.
- Remove from the oven and let sit for 20 minutes before serving. Slice and serve. You can use the remaining brown sugar glaze for serving. Enjoy!

Steps:
- Combine water and sugar in a small saucepan with a whisk.
- Bring to a boil and boil until the sugar dissolves and the syrup turns clear.
- Make this glaze before you begin making cookies, and allow it to cool to slightly above room temperature while you make and bake your cookies. When the cookies and the syrup are cool, brush each cookie with a very thin coat of glaze and sprinkle on decorations or large-crystal sugar.
- Allow glaze to dry for at least an hour before stacking cookies. Thin glaze will dry faster than a thick coat of glaze.

EASY BROWN SUGAR GLAZE FOR CAKES
Glazes are one of my favorite parts about baking and I love learning new techniques, like this easy brown sugar glaze for cakes that I use on top of my spice cake. I think this glaze brings a balance in flavor and really brings out the spiciness. You can also use it on top of cinnamon rolls, for example, I think it would complement them very nicely. It is also really easy to make!

Steps:
- Place butter and sugar in a medium saucepan and put it over low heat.
- Stir until sugar is completely dissolved.
- Add cream, vanilla, and salt. Now you need to bring it to a boil.
- Remove it from the flame and set aside to cool. This will thicken it up and it will turn into a syrup.
- Use it immediately. If you plan to store it, place it in a sealed container in the fridge once it is cool and use in less than 2 days. If it has turned too thick and is unpourable, you will need to heat it up again to be able to use it. Heat it up in the microwave in 30-second intervals mixing every time to avoid burning.

Steps:
- Place grill pan on stovetop and turn heat to medium. Make sure you have the exhaust fan on as it can get smokey.
- Lightly brush both sides of pork chops with olive oil and sprinkle with the salt and pepper, and rub in brown sugar well on both sides.
- Place pork chops in heated grill pan and let grill for about 4 minutes. It may be necessary to adjust flame down a bit if they appear to be grilling too hot. But DO NOT touch them or move them around. Let the grill on first side for the 4 minutes.
- Now flip pork chops over and grill on 2nd side for 4 minutes.
- Turn off heat but leave pork chops in the grill pan and cover with aluminum foil and let sit for 5-10 minutes. This will finish the cooking process while keeping the pork chops juicy.
- Remove pork chops from pan and serve.

Steps:
- Combine powdered sugar, water, and vanilla extract in a medium-sized bowl. Mix until smooth.
- Add more water or powdered sugar until it reaches your desired consistency. If using a piping bag, about 2 tablespoons of water is best (you want the icing to be about the consistency of pancake batter). If dipping or drizzling the icing, 3 tablespoons of water will likely be needed. See notes below for storing and freezing notes.
- Drying time: Depending on the temperature and humidity of your house, drying time will vary. For a thin glaze (dipped), I typically find that it takes 6-8 hours on the counter (uncovered) to fully harden. After about 3 hours, the outside is "set" but the inside will still be soft. You can place a fan nearby to help speed up the drying time.

- Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 6-count donut pan with baking spray and set aside.
- Add icing sugar to a bowl and add vanilla extract and water (a teaspoon or so at a time until you've reached your desired consistency … a little water goes a long way) and gel food colouring (if using). Whisk or stir with a spoon until everything is combined and smooth. Note: If using the gel food colouring, I suggest using a tiny amount on the tip of a toothpick to swirl into icing sugar mixture (again, a little goes a long way). If you are using a LIQUID food colouring, you'll want to add a little less water so you don't thin out the glaze too much.
