SWEET POTATO DOG TREATS
These sweet potato dog treats are single ingredient treats. They would be a great option for dogs with digestive sensitivities or severe allergies. You can add some "toppers" to the treats if you'd like to add some variety, or you can keep it simple if you need to.

Steps:
- Preheat your oven to 250°F.
- First, you'll need to wash the sweet potato. Keep in mind that you can use multiple potatoes, I just used one for the purpose of this recipe demonstration.
- Slice the potato very thin. I try to keep my slices between 1/10″-1/8″. The thicker you slice them, the longer it will take to dehydrate the treats.
- Place the slices on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. If you'd like to, you can top the slices with a coat of melted coconut oil or raw honey. You could also sprinkle them with cinnamon and/or turmeric. You can also leave the sweet potato slices plain.
- Bake in the 250˚ oven for 3 hours. They should be fully dehydrated by this time. If not, just increase the baking time.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
- Poke the sweet potatoes all over with a fork and wrap in foil. Bake until the potatoes offer no resistance when pierced with a paring knife, about 1 hour. Unwrap and let cool completely.
- Scoop the insides of the potatoes into a bowl and mash with the back of a fork (you will need 1 3/4 cups of the puree). Stir the chicken bouillon into 1 cup of hot water and add to the potatoes; whisk until smooth. Stir in the oat flour, rolled oats and baking soda until a dough forms. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight.
- Adjust the oven temperature to 350 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Lightly flour a clean work surface with oat flour. Divide the dough in half and roll out 1/8-inch thick. Use a 3-inch dog-bone-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the treats. Gather the scraps and re-roll the dough as many times as necessary. Lay the treats on the prepared baking sheets; they can be very close together.
- Bake until deep golden brown and crisp, 25 to 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool completely before feeding to your dog. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 4 to 5 days.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 250° F Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Cut off one side of the sweet potato lengthwise, as close to the edge as possible. Cutting the side of the potato first allows you to then turn the potato onto this flat surface that you have just created. Having a stable area to rest the potato will make it easier to cut the potato into slices. Don't discard that first piece, it comes out just as yummy as the rest! Cut the rest of the potato into 1/3" slices, no smaller than 1/4". Place them on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 3 hours, turning half way through. Cool completely on a wire rack. Storing - Although these treats are dried, you will want to keep them in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks. You can freeze them for up to 4 months.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Prick sweet potato several times with a fork.
- Heat sweet potato in a microwave on high until tender, about 6 minutes. Cut potato in half and scoop flesh out of the skin into a bowl; discard skin. Mash potato with a fork or potato masher and transfer about 1 cup to a large bowl. Save any remaining sweet potato for another use.
- Mix whole wheat flour, applesauce, and eggs in the large bowl with the sweet potato until a dough forms. Turn dough out on a well-floured surface and roll dough to about 1/2-inch thick. Cut out shapes using a cookie cutter or cut dough into strips with a pizza cutter. Arrange cookies on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake until crisp, 35 to 45 minutes. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack.

HEALTHY HOMEMADE DEHYRATED DOG TREATS/SNACKS
I first started cooking my two Chihuahuas food when one had allergies with canned foods, no matter what brand. Amazingly, her skin cleared up almost within a week of getting her off store-bought food. I still give them kibble though. After reading about the chicken.turkey and beef jerky treats that come from China for your dogs...

Steps:
- 1. Purchase chicken or turkey breast strips that are on sale. Only use white meat, because the dark meats are too full of fat to dehydrate properly (too greasy). 1/2 lb. might be enough for one Potato. Freeze about 30 minutes - they will be easier to slice. Slice them length-wise into thin strips - so you can wrap them around the potato strips
- 2. Peel raw Sweet Potato Cut lengh-wise into thin strips (julianne cut, like for thin fries) (Depending on how many you want to make - use two or three potatoes and more meat strips.)
- 3. Wrap a strip of chicken or turkey around each potato strip OPTIONAL: sprinkle with garlic powder for flea preventative, if your dog likes garlic. Fill up your dehydrater - OR - place on cookie sheet in your oven at about 150-190 deg.
- 4. Dehydration time: approximately 6 - 7 hours. Not sure in the oven. check them after 3 hours. bend one, and see if any moisture is present. If so, keep them in the oven. test after 6 hours to be sure they have no moisture in them. I usually keep mine frozen, and take a few out for the dogs for the week. I give them one in the afternoon as a snack before their night feeding.
SWEET POTATO CHEWS FOR DOGS
One of my coworkers made these for her Yorkie who just loves them as does my dog, Popcorn. Sweet potatoes are popular in the islands of the Pacific Ocean, spreading from Polynesia to Japan and the Philippines. I wonder whether dogs in those countries have sampled this little treat.
