1 lb. boneless (skinless chicken breast)
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari)
1/4 cup organic ketchup
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 tablespoon sriracha
1/2 medium onion (minced)
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Steps:

  • First, mix honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, and sriracha together.
  • Then, place chicken and onion into a large crockpot and pour on sauce.
  • Turn crockpot to high and let cook for 1.5-2 hours. Or, alternatively, cook on low for 6-8.
  • At 1.5 hours, check the chicken breasts to see if they are fully cooked (not pink in the middle). Once they are cooked, take chicken breast out and shred them using two forks.
  • Before placing shredded chicken back into crockpot, add 1 tablespoons of cornstarch to the sauce and whisk until it dissolves. Place shredded chicken back into the pot, add sesame seeds, mix with sauce, and let cook for an additional 30 minutes on high.
  • Serve with white sticky rice, steamed broccoli, and more sesame seeds.

2 pounds chicken breasts (uncooked boneless skinless)
1 cup chicken broth
1/4 cup seasoned rice vinegar
1/4 cup soy sauce (or gluten free alternative)
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon ketchup
2 cloves garlic (minced or pressed)
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more to taste)
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup cornstarch
Sesame seeds, cilantro, and red pepper flakes (optional for topping)
Rice, brown rice, or cauliflower rice (for serving)

Steps:

  • Grease your crockpot with cooking spray.
  • Whisk together sauce ingredients: broth, rice vinegar, soy sauce, honey, ketchup, garlic, red pepper flakes, ginger, and pepper.
  • Pour half the sauce into crockpot.
  • Place chicken into crockpot.
  • Pour the rest of the sauce over the chicken.
  • Place the lid on and cook on LOW for 4 hours or HIGH for 2 hours.
  • Remove chicken from crockpot and set aside.
  • Whisk the cornstarch into the sauce until well combined.
  • Place chicken back into crockpot and cover.
  • Cook for an additional 30 mins on HIGH (if you cooked on HIGH before) or 1 hour on HIGH (if you cooked on low before).
  • Remove chicken, cut into chunks, then stir back into sauce.
  • Serve with your choice of rice and additional toppings and enjoy!

1 ½ pounds skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
½ cup honey
¼ cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons dried minced onion
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
½ teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons cornstarch
3 tablespoons water
sesame seeds, or to taste

Steps:

  • Spread chicken into the crock of a slow cooker.
  • Stir honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced onion, vegetable oil, and garlic powder together in a bowl; pour over the chicken.
  • Cook on Low until the chicken is tender, 3 to 4 hours.
  • Remove chicken from the sauce in the slow cooker to a cutting board. Stir water and cornstarch together to dissolve cornstarch completely; pour into the sauce in the slow cooker until smooth.
  • Cook on High until slightly thickened, about 10 minutes.
  • Cut chicken into bite-size pieces and stir into the sauce. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the chicken and sauce mixture.

2 teaspoons cornstarch

This slow cooker sesame chicken is delicious and easy to make!

1 1/2 lb boneless/skinless chicken breasts
1/2 c honey
1/4 c soy sauce
2 Tbsp dried onion
2 Tbsp ketchup
1 Tbsp oil
1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp cornstarch dissolved in 3 tablespoons water
sesame seeds

Steps:

  • 1. Put chicken into crock pot.
  • 2. Combine honey, soy sauce, onion, ketchup, oil, and garlic. Pour over chicken.
  • 3. Cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hours, or just until chicken is cooked through. Remove chicken from crock pot, leave sauce.
  • 4. Dissolve 2 teaspoons of cornstarch in 3 tablespoons of water and pour into crock pot. Stir to combine with sauce. Replace lid and cook sauce on high for ten more minutes or until slightly thickened.
  • 5. Cut chicken into bite size pieces and return to crock pot - can leave chicken in and simmer on low or serve. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve over rice.

4 Chicken breasts
1 cup soy sauce
3 Tablespoons Sesame Oil
2 Tablespoons rice wine vinegar
2 Tablespoons ketchup
½ cup honey
½ cup dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon crushed red chili pepper
3 Tablespoons corn starch
Sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Cut chicken breasts into bite sized pieces then place in the slow cooker.
  • Combine soy sauce, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, ketchup, honey, dark brown sugar, garlic powder, crushed red chili pepper in a bowl and stir to combine.
  • Pour mixture over chicken, add the lid then set the slow cooker on high for 3 hours.
  • Once chicken is cooked keep the crock pot on high, whisk corn starch into about ¼ cup of water then stir into the chicken mixture the crock pot. Within about 10 minutes the sauce will thicken.
  • Serve with sesame seeds on top!

I found this on the Six Sisters' blog and had to try it. I can never get the sauce to thicken in the crock pot so I put the juices in a separate pan, add the cornstarch and cook it on the stove but I posted as it was written.

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (thighs would be fine too)
salt and pepper
1 cup honey
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup diced onion
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (could also use olive oil or canola oil)
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
4 teaspoons cornstarch (dissolved in 6 Tablespoons water)
sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Season both sides of chicken with lightly with salt and pepper, put into crock pot.
  • In a small bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, onion, ketchup, oil, garlic and pepper flakes. Pour over chicken.
  • Cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hours, or just until chicken is cooked through.
  • Remove chicken from crock pot, leave sauce.
  • Dissolve 4 teaspoons of cornstarch in 6 tablespoons of water and pour into crock pot. Stir to combine with sauce.
  • Replace lid and cook sauce on high for ten more minutes or until slightly thickened.
  • Cut chicken into bite size pieces, then return to pot and toss with sauce before serving.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve over rice or noodles.
  • You can also sprinkle more red pepper flakes on top if you want more heat.
