2 Apples (Cored & Chopped (Peel if you like, I leave the skins on mine))
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
2 tablespoons Brown Sugar (I use Brown Sugar Splenda Blend)
1 teaspoon Vanilla
2 tablespoons Light Butter (cut into pieces)
1 Cup Steel Cut Oats
1 1/2 Cups Skim Milk
1 1/2 Cups Water (note this is an ingredient for the inside of the bowl, additional water will be needed for double boiler)
Nuts or Raisins (Garnish)

Steps:

  • Place glass bowl inside your 6-quart crock pot and add water outside of the bowl until it reaches halfway up the bowl.
  • Add all ingredients inside the bowl except garnish and stir.
  • Cook on low for 8 hours.
  • Stir well and serve with garnish.

1/2 cup raisins

Steps:

  • In a 1-1/2-qt. slow cooker coated with cooking spray, combine all ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until liquid is absorbed and oatmeal is tender. If desired, serve with additional milk, walnuts and cinnamon.

2 apples, peeled, cored, cut into 1/2-inch pieces (2-1/2 to 3 cups chopped)
1 1/2 cups nonfat milk
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup uncooked steel cut oats
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons butter, cut into 5-6 pieces
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons ground flax seeds
1/4 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon butter
1/4 teaspoon salt

3 cups water
1 1/2 cups steel cut oats
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 apples, cored and cut in relatively small pieces
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cardamom, ground
1 tablespoon chia seeds
2 tablespoons of ground flax seed meal
1 tablespoon turbinado sugar or 1 tablespoon dark agave nectar

Steps:

  • Bring the water to boil adding a dash of salt. Add at the same time to the water (while it's warming), the vanilla extract, cinnamon, cardamom & steel cut oats. Allow oats to cook for about 10-15 min at medium heat until soft and stirring intermittently. Add chopped apples and let simmer 5 more minutes. Add in sweetener to taste(sucranat sugar or agave) and Chia seeds and mix well. To thin out you may add Almond milk to desired texture. Sprinkle a little flaxseed meal on top.

1 cup steel cut oats (DO NOT substitute old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats)
4 1/2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 -3 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup dried fruit (raisins, prunes, apricots, dates) (optional)
milk, to taste
sugar, to taste
cinnamon, to taste
maple syrup, to taste

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in a 2 quart slow cooker. (If you want to make a smaller amount please use a smaller crock pot or crockette. This won't work in a 6 quart cooker).
  • Cover and cook on LOW 6-8 hours.
  • It might form a "crust" around the outside. Just scrape it down with a spoon and stir.
