Great super easy recipe! Very moist, tasty and usually gets many raves. I fixed this and brought it to work and got requests from everyone for the recipe! Very easy to double.

CROCK POT SPAGHETTI SAUCE - MMMM OAMC

Crock Pot Spaghetti Sauce - Mmmm OAMC image

I have worked on this sauce recipe for quite some time. I hope you enjoy it as much as our family does. We traditionally eat this every Sunday with garlic toast [roasted garlic drizzled with olive oil (425 degrees for 35 minutes wrapped tightly in tin foil) and topped with parmesean cheese placed on top of a cooling rack, set on a cookie sheet, then broiled], Ceasar salad, steamed broccoli and orange slices. This recipe make A LOT of sauce (You may want to halve it). Leftovers freeze beautifully.

MY CROCK POT SPAGHETTI SAUCE

My Crock Pot Spaghetti Sauce image

This is a spaghetti sauce recipe that I've developed over time. You may alter the ground meat as you please; sometimes I use all ground beef when I find a good sale but half beef/half pork is pretty tasty. My crock pot is my best friend at times when I'm having busy days at work but still want a decent meal on the table for my family. I serve spaghetti with crusty bread and a romaine salad. Cook time is the crock pot cooking time. This recipe is for a 4 quart crock pot, halve it if your pot is smaller.

CREAMY CROCK POT SPAGHETTI FOR A CROWD

Creamy Crock Pot Spaghetti for a Crowd image

This is a rich, creamy, hearty, comforting pasta dish that will warm you from the inside out. This sauce is similar to vodka sauce found at restaurants. Using jarred spaghetti sauce, parmesan cheese, and heavy cream, it is budget friendly and great for pot lucks or a large group. There are similar recipes that use cream cheese or premade cream cheese sauces, but using heavy cream and parmesan cheese elevates a homestyle family dish into something gourmet and special for your family and friends. They will thank you for making this, as will their cardiologists and personal trainers. Notes: This recipe makes a lot so you need a large slow cooker. This is a recipe that needs to be stirred at least once or twice while cooking and may need water added while it is cooking. It is ok to leave this as is for the first 3 hours, but check the pasta for doneness and add water as needed to suit your family's taste. Don't worry if it is a little al dente. This is a dish that is made to sit a while. The pasta will absorb the liquid the longer it sits and will wind up soft and delicious.

Time 4h20m

Yield 8-10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 lb turkey (removed from the casing) or 1 lb sausage (removed from the casing)
1 cup sweet onion, chopped
1 tablespoon garlic, finely minced
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
cooking spray
1 lb spaghetti, bow ties, rigatoni (use a thick noodle) or 1 lb ziti pasta
3 (14 ounce) jars spaghetti sauce (I use Ragu Old World Style)
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup butter
1 cup parmesan cheese, grated
1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
28 ounces water

Steps:

  • Coat the bottom of a large pan over medium heat with canola oil. Add ground beef (or turkey or sausage) and brown with onion, garlic, salt, black pepper. Drain.
  • Spray the bottom of the slow cooker. Add 1/2 of the first jar of sauce then the browned meat.
  • Add the second half of the first jar of sauce. Add the spaghetti. I break it in half to fit in my slow cooker.
  • Add a jar full of water and then the second jar of sauce.
  • Cut half of the butter into chunks and sprinkle it on top of the sauce.
  • Pour half of the heavy cream on the sauce, sprinkle half the parmesan cheese on top.
  • Add half of the dried italian seasoning.
  • Put the lid on the slow cooker and cook on high for 3 hours.
  • After 3 hours (or less 2-1/2 is ok too) check the pasta. It will be clumped together and chewy. Mix the pasta and the sauce together to bring the uncooked noodles closer to the top. Try not to dig too deep into the meat, but it's ok if you do.
  • Add the last jar of sauce and half a jar of water. This is where you have to judge how done the pasta is and how much more time it will need to cook. Add the remaining parmesan cheese, heavy cream, and butter to the sauce. Replace the lid and cook for another hour or until the pasta is just done.
  • Stir everything completely together and serve.

CROCK POT SPAGHETTI SAUCE

Crock Pot Spaghetti Sauce image

I love this recipe, but I must say I have forgotten where I got it from. I make a crock pot full, we eat on it for two days, and then I freeze the rest for another time. I use italian sausage, and omit the red pepper and sugar (prefer a not too sweet sauce). If I am short of time, I always cook the meat the night before, then put it all in the crock pot the next morning. I would think, though, you could cook it all night then all the next day until dinner too. The recipe states 4-6 servings but I think it makes more than that. Enjoy!

Time 10h20m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 13

4 tablespoons cooking oil, divided
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 (15 1/2 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon red pepper (optional)
1 lb ground beef
1 (29 ounce) can tomato puree
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon oregano
2 lbs sausage (Italian links or country style)
1/4-1/2 cup sugar, to taste (optional)

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef in 2 tablespoons hot oil in frying pan.
  • When almost browned, add onion and continue browning until onion is tender. Pour meat and onion into crock pot.
  • Add puree, sauce, paste, water, salt, pepper and oregano and set dial on low setting.
  • Cut 2 pounds sausage into pieces and brown in remaining 2 tablespoons oil. When brown, place sausages in sauce in crock pot.
  • Continue cooking for 12 hours.
  • If you like your sauce sweeter, you could add 1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar to this.

CROCK POT SPAGHETTI 2

Crock Pot Spaghetti 2 image

I took 'Crock Pot Spaghetti' and revised it quite a bit and it was really good this way too. I try to get turmeric in anything that will mask the flavor because it is so good for your health. It is an Indian spice. If you don't have it, leave it out. This was a way to get more veggies into my kids without too much complaint.
