I've made this dish many times since coming across the recipe about 12 years ago. We enjoy the unique blend of flavors and textures, and appreciate the fact that canned salmon is always "in season"!

- In a bowl, combine the salmon or tuna, potatoes, celery, carrot, onion and egg; set aside. For dressing, mix all ingredients except fresh dill in blender. Add half of dressing to salmon and potato mixture; cover and refrigerate. , Serve chilled. Stir in remaining dressing just before serving or serve with salad. Garnish with fresh dill if desired. Refrigerate leftovers.

- Place the potatoes into a pot, and fill with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil, and cook for about 10 minutes, or until easily pierced with a fork. Drain, and set aside to cool.

- Heat oven to 350°F. Place potatoes in 3-quart saucepan; add enough water to cover. Heat to boiling; reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer 5 to 10 minutes or until tender; drain thoroughly. Place potatoes in ungreased square baking dish, 8x8x2 inches.
- Place cottage cheese, sour cream, flour, salt, garlic powder and pepper in food processor or blender. Cover and process until smooth. Add cottage cheese mixture, onion and cheese to potatoes; stir in gently.
- Mix corn flake crumbs and margarine in small bowl; sprinkle over potatoes.
- Bake uncovered 18 to 20 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

- Place potatoes in a large saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and cook for 15-20 minutes or until tender. Drain., Meanwhile, in a large salad bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, mustard, celery seed, salt and pepper; mix well. Cut potatoes into cubes. Add to mayonnaise mixture and toss to coat. This recipe has been in the family for decades. You can use whatever type cottage cheese you prefer-though regular or 2% turns out best-the same goes for the curd as we have used both large and small- I suppose large curd may provide a creamier salad. Cooking time is chill time.

- In a large saucepan cook potatoes, covered, in a small amount of lightly salted boiling water until just tender. (Allow 20 to 25 minutes for medium potatoes or 15 to 20 minutes for new potatoes.) Drain potatoes well. Peel and cube potatoes or quarter new potatoes.
- In a mixing bowl combine celery, green or red sweet pepper, and onion. Add cooked potatoes. Toss to mix.
- For dressing, in a blender container or food processor bowl combine cottage cheese, mayonnaise or salad dressing, 2 tablespoons milk, mustard, and salt. Cover and blend or process until mixture is smooth. Add to potato mixture. If desired, add dillweed, basil, or celery seed. Toss to combine all ingredients. Cover and chill at least 5 hours. If salad seems dry after chilling, stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons milk to moisten. Makes 8 to 10 side-dish servings.
