This is my mom's recipe. It is a family requested recipe that she usually makes for Christmas. She's even added green food coloring to the cool whip to give it the festive look.

2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup butter
8 ounces cream cheese
2 cups powdered sugar
2 (21 ounce) cans cherry pie filling
8 ounces Cool Whip

Steps:

  • Melt butter, pour into a 9 x 13 dish – add graham cracker crumbs.
  • Press in bottom of 9 x 13 forming a crust.
  • Bake 350 degrees for 8 – 10 minutes.
  • Let cool.
  • Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar with a mixer until smooth and creamy.
  • Pour on top of cooled cracker crust – smooth out.
  • Pour cans of cherries on top of the cream cheese mixture – then top the cherries with cool whip.

This is a really great dessert, plan ahead this needs to chill for a minimum of 3 hours or overnight is even better.

1 3/4 cups crushed graham cracker crumbs
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
2 cups whipped dream whipped topping (1 envelope)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (28 ounce) can cherry pie filling

Steps:

  • Prepare a 9 x 9" baking pan.
  • In a bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter and 1 tbsp sugar; spread on bottom of prepared baking pan to form a crust.
  • Mix the Dream Whip topping according to directions on the package, then beat in the softened cream cheese into the Dream Whip a little at a time.
  • Add the remaining sugar and vanilla until well blended.
  • Smooth on top of the crust.
  • Top with the cherry pie filling.
  • Chill at least 3 hours (overnight is even better) if storing in the fridge overnight, cover with plastic wrap.

1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Mix the graham crackers and margarine together and press into a 13 x9 pyrex dish. (To crush the crackers, you could place them all in a ziploc bag and use a rolling pin. Then add the margarine right to the bag and pour the mixed contents into the dish).
  • Blend the sugar, eggs, vanilla, and cream cheese. Pour the mixture into the graham cracker crust.

This recipe my mom made when I was a kid growing up. It is very rich, but real yummy! I don't know where she obtained this recipe, but it goes back to the 1950's I believe.

15 graham crackers, crushed
3 tablespoons butter, melted
24 marshmallows (large ones)
1/2 cup milk
1/2 pint whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling

Steps:

  • Combine graham cracker crumbs and the melted butter.
  • Pack half of that mixture in bottom of 8x8 dish.
  • Melt marshmallows in milk in double boiler and let cool.
  • Add whipped cream and 1 teaspoon of vanilla to marshmallow mixture.
  • Pour half of the marshmallow mixture over the graham cracker crumbs.
  • Then pour all of the cherry pie filling over that.
  • Add the rest of the marshmallow mixture on top of pie filling.
  • Top with the rest of graham cracker crumbs.
  • Chill overnight.
