My mother used to make this and it looked interesting. Make it in the spring when the cherries are ripe and serve it the following winter.

2 quarts sour cherries, unpitted
2 cups sugar
1 (750 ml) bottle Bourbon (100 proof)

Steps:

  • Mix cherries, sugar, and bourbon in a glass 1 gallon jar.
  • Keep in a cool, dark place.
  • Shake once a week.
  • Serve chilled at Christmas time.
