Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 14

4 cans tuna in water (drained)
1 1/4 cups bread crumbs (divided)
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
zest of 1 lemon (optional)
2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)
2 large eggs (beaten)
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/3 cup mayo
2 eggs (beaten)
1 cup bread crumbs
Vegetable oil for frying

Steps:

  • Add one cup of bread crumbs to a medium bowl and set aside.
  • Making Tuna Balls:
  • Open the cans of tuna, scoop tuna chunks into a colander and drain.
  • Add drained tuna to a large bowl.
  • Add 1/4 cup of bread crumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, lemon zest, chopped parsley, 2 beaten eggs, cheese and mayo to a large bowl. Using a spatula stir to combine all the ingredients.
  • Using a cookie scoop (I used the 2 tablespoons one), take a scoop of the tuna mixture, dump it into the prepared bowl with bread crumbs. Cover in bread crumbs, roll gently into a more perfect ball and place on a cutting board. Repeat with the remaining tuna mixture.
  • Refrigerate tuna balls for at least 1 hour before frying, otherwise they won't hold their shape.

CLASSIC CHEESEBALL

Classic Cheeseball image

This Classic Cheese Ball recipe makes the perfect party appetizer. A cheese ball made with cheddar cheese, cream cheese, green onion and spices, and coated in chopped pecans.

Provided by Lauren Allen

Categories     Appetizer

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 10

16 ounces cream cheese (, softened)
2 cups freshly grated sharp cheddar cheese ((avoid pre-shredded cheese))
2 green onion (, chopped)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
dash freshly ground black pepper
2/3 cup pecans (, finely chopped)

Steps:

  • Place cream cheese in a mixing bowl and mix until smooth. Add cheese, green onion, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, parley, garlic powder, oregano and pepper and mix well to combine.
  • Use a rubber spatula to scrape the sides of the bowl and gather the mixture into one lump. Lightly grease your hands and form the mixture into a round ball.
  • Place the pecans on a plate. Hold the cheese ball in one hand and use the other hand to scoop the pecans onto the outside of the ball, pressing them in gently and turning the ball to coat all sides.
  • Cover the cheeseball in cling wrap and refrigerate for about 1 hour to allow it to firm up. Take it out of the refrigerator about 20 minutes before serving to allow it to soften just slightly. Serve with crackers, pretzels, vegetables or anything else you'd love to dip in cheese!

CHEESE BALL WITH TUNA

Cheese Ball With Tuna image

Possibly the easiest and quickest thing you can throw together! Time does not include chilling time, as you can chill for as long or as little as you want or serve immediately. Flavours blend better with a little time to rest though.

Categories     Lunch/Snacks

Time 10m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (8 ounce) can tuna in water
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
hot sauce
salt
fresh ground pepper
cracker

Steps:

  • Using a fork flake tuna into small little bits into a bowl.
  • Add the cream cheese to the bowl and mash with the fork until everything is well combined.
  • Add the dijon a small sprinkle of salt and pepper to taste and continue mashing.
  • Add the hot sauce to taste! I add up to a full tablespoon, sometimes more, but this is entirely up to your preference. Add a small amount at a time and taste as you mash until you achieve a flavour you like!.
  • Scoop the mixture onto the center of a piece of plastic wrap. Wrap tightly and shape into a ball as you roll. Toss it into th fridge until chilled, or into the freezer for 30 mins or so it you are really strapped for time.
  • Serve on a platter with crackers!
  • **OPTIONS**.
  • You can use a different canned fish too! Try Crab or Salmon!
  • Try rolling the ball in finely chopped nuts or grated cheese!
  • You can omit the hot sauce and dijon and try other seasonings of your choice! (fresh herbs? garlic? hot peppers?).
