2 pounds tater tots, thawed
1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
1 cup finely chopped onion
1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
1 (8 ounce) package sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
1 dash garlic powder
½ teaspoon seasoning salt
½ cup butter, softened
3 cups cornflakes cereal
½ cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
paprika to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl combine tater tots, soup, onion, sour cream, cheese, garlic powder, seasoning salt and softened butter; mix well. Transfer to casserole dish. In a medium bowl combine cereal and melted butter; spread over casserole. Sprinkle the top with parmesan cheese (use more or less according to your taste) and paprika.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until browned. (Note: It's a good idea to put a cookie sheet under the casserole dish, in case it bubbles over while cooking.)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 large onion, chopped
1 (32 ounce) package frozen tater tots, (such as McCain® Tasti Taters)
1 (10.75 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
8 ounces sour cream
1 cup melted butter
1 ½ cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
salt to taste
1 (7 ounce) bag sour cream-and-onion-flavored potato chips, crushed

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a large casserole dish.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat; cook the onion in the hot oil until softened, 5 to 7 minutes. Mix the cooked onions, tater tots, mushroom soup, sour cream, butter, pepper, and salt together in a large bowl until the tater tots are evenly coated. Stir the Cheddar cheese in a little bit at a time until evenly distributed throughout the mixture; pour into the prepared dish. Sprinkle the potato chips over the top.
  • Bake until golden brown on top, 45 to 60 minutes.

7 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
2 -3 celery ribs, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 quart water
4 teaspoons chicken bouillon granules
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 quart milk
sour cream
shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • In a large pot, add potatoes, celery, onion, water and bouillon; bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes or until potatoes are tender; cool slightly.
  • Place half of potato mixture in a blender; cover and puree.
  • Repeat with remaining potato mixture; set aside.
  • In same large pot, melt butter.
  • Stir in flour, salt and pepper until smooth.
  • Gradually add milk and bring to a boil.
  • Boil and stir constantly for 2 minutes.
  • Pour in potato puree and cook until heated thoroughly.
  • Pour soup into individual serving bowls; garnish with sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese.

6 potatoes, peeled and chopped (I cut them in pretty small pieces)
2 leeks, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
4 vegetable bouillon cubes
1 tablespoon parsley flakes
5 cups water
1 tablespoon salt
1/3 cup butter
chives, chopped to taste
1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients, except chives and milk, in a 4 quart slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on low for 7 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Stir in milk and chives during last hour of cooking.

4 cups milk (whole or 2%)
1 cup hot water
1 vegetable bouillon cube (or chicken)
1/2 cup chopped white onion
1/2 cup thinly sliced carrot
3/4 cup thinly sliced celery
5 peeled and cubed potatoes
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon chicken seasoning, blend (or your favorite blend of spices) or 1 teaspoon italian blend spices (or your favorite blend of spices)
1 -2 tablespoon flour
2 -3 cups mild cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Add milk, onions, potatoes, carrots, celery, salt, pepper, and seasoning blend to a 6 qt crock pot.
  • Dissolve the bouillon cube in the hot water and then add to the crock.
  • Cover and cook on low for 8 hours
  • Using a potato masher, gently mash some of the potatoes in the soup to your preference (If you like a chickier soup don't mash as much).
  • If the soup is too thin take out about 1/2 cup of the cream and add 1-2 tablespoons of flour. Make sure all lumps of flour have dissolved in the cream, and then add the mixture back into the soup.
  • Stir in the cheese until creamy and enjoy!

This is my mom's version; different from others posted, you do not have to brown the ground beef before adding to casserole.

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
10 ounces cream of chicken soup
1 (16 ounce) bag tater tots
2 cups shredded cheese (optional)
to taste seasoning salt
to taste pepper
to taste onion powder
to taste garlic powder

Steps:

  • Press uncooked ground beef into bottom of greased 9x13 pan
  • Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder.
  • Pour cream of chicken soup on top and spread evenly.
  • Arrange tatertots on top of soup so that they are side by side in rows covering entire casserole.
  • Bake at 350 for 45-60 minutes or until juices from the meat run clear
  • Top with shredded cheese and return to oven for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.
  • Note: You can add chopped onions or garlic to the ground beef before pressing into pan.
