Provided by Amaya Oke

Categories     Drinks

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 11

8 cups water
½ cup tapioca pearls
2.5 tbsp black tea
4 cups water
½ cup white sugar
½ cup water
1¾ cup brewed tea
¼ cup milk
¼ cup simple syrup
¼ cup ice
½ cup tapioca pearls

Steps:

  • Add water and sugar to a saucepan over medium heat. Once the sugar completely dissolves, your simple syrup is ready to use or store in a clean jar.
  • In a separate saucepan, cook the tapioca pearls in boiling water for 5 to 8 minutes. Once cooked, remove the pearls from the hot water. Transfer them into a bowl of iced cold water for 2 minutes. Remove your boba from the water and mix in half of the simple syrup.
  • Steep the tea leaves in boiled water for about 5 to 10 minutes. Remove the tea leaves according to your desired consistency.
  • Pour in the ice, simple syrup, tea, and milk into a glass.
  • Finally, add your tapioca pearls on top of the drink. Serve your bubble tea with a thick straw and enjoy!

BUBBLE TEA...OR COFFEE

Bubble Tea...or Coffee image

This is a very popular Asian beverage! I made this with coffee instead of tea and it was very good! I used the raw, large, black pearl tapioca. You can find these ingredients in Oriental grocery stores.

Provided by Lillian Russo

Categories     Other Drinks

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 c brewed black tea or very strong coffee
1/2 c raw tapioca pearls
1 can(s) sweetened condensed milk
ice cubes
bubble tea straws

Steps:

  • 1. I used the raw large black pearl tapioca. Follow direction on package to prepare. The trick is to cook the tapioca pearls long enough so that they are chewable when done. This takes about 1 hour of boiling with plenty of water. Then drain and cool them. Place them in a container and pour a can of sweetened condensed milk over them. Scoop about 1/4 cup of them into a glass and add iced coffee or tea and serve with milk and sugar. You'll need the large diameter straws (bubble tea) to be able to suck up the tapioca pearls while drinking. They taste similar to gummy bears, but softer.
