1 ½ pounds bay scallops
1 tablespoon garlic salt
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons lemon juice

Steps:

  • Turn broiler on.
  • Rinse scallop and place in a shallow baking pan. Sprinkle with garlic salt, melted butter or margarine and lemon juice.
  • Broil 6 to 8 minutes or until scallops start to turn golden. Remove from oven and serve with extra melted butter or margarine on the side for dipping.

10 scallops
1 tablespoon unsalted butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 dash garlic powder
1 dash onion powder
1 dash paprika
chives
parsley

Steps:

  • Put the scallops onto a container for the broiler.
  • Add butter/margarine and olive oil.
  • Sprinkle spices onto the scallops.
  • Place a few inches away from broiler fire.
  • Broil for 12 minutes.
  • Turn the scallops over and broil for another 4 minutes.
  • Serve as an appetizer or as part of a main course.

Steps:

  • 1. Turn on Broiler, Rinse scallops and place in a shallow baking pan. Sprinkle with Garlic Salt, Melted Butter, and Lemon Juice.
  • 2. Broil 6 to 10 minutes or until they start to barely turn Golden. Remove from Oven,
  • 3. Serve with More Melted Butter and a splash of lemon as a dipping sauce on the side. Goes Great with Steaks.... ENJOY.

Simple Sea Scallops Persillade image

Sea scallops are available all year, but are abundant and quite welcome in winter. Like all shellfish, they are best when they are ultra-fresh. If you can get them like that, just let the freshness shine. These simple scallops are nearly naked, adorned with nothing more than butter, garlic and parsley. The idea is to accentuate, not mask, that straight-from-the-sea feeling.

8 freshly shucked sea scallops, about 1 ounce each, cleaned, with coral attached if possible
Salt and pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 garlic cloves, minced
4 tablespoons roughly chopped flat leaf parsley
Lemon wedges

Steps:

  • Rinse scallops to rid them of any sand. With a paring knife, remove the small hard "foot" from the edge of each scallop. Blot scallops dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Put olive oil in wide cast-iron pan over medium-high heat. When oil is hot and nearly smoking, place scallops in pan in one layer. Leave scallops until well browned on one side, 2 to 3 minutes, then turn and cook for 1 minute on other side. Remove scallops to a plate, browned side up.
  • Wipe pan clean with paper towels and return to stove. Turn down heat slightly. Add butter and swirl pan to melt. Add garlic and let it bloom - that is, cook without browning for 30 seconds. Return scallops to pan, browned side up, and gently heat through. Sprinkle with 3 tablespoons parsley and turn off heat. Put 2 scallops per person in scallop shells or small shallow bowls.
  • Tilt pan and spoon butter sauce evenly over each serving. Sprinkle with remaining 1 tablespoon parsley. Serve immediately with lemon wedges.

1/2 cup plain dried breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1 pinch cayenne
1 1/4 lbs sea scallops

Steps:

  • Preheat broiler.
  • Combine bread crumbs, parsley, garlic, butter, lemon juice, and cayenne in a large bowl.
  • Add scallops and toss to coat.
  • Place scallops on rack of broiler pan and lightly spray with non-stick spray.
  • Broil 4 inches from heat until golden brown on the outside and opaque in tghe middle, about 4 minutes (do not turn).

1 lb bay scallop
2 tablespoons butter, salted (your choice)
1 teaspoon olive oil
1/4 teaspoon lemon pepper
1 tablespoon garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon seafood seasoning (Chesapeake Bay or Old Bay)
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice, fresh if you have it
parmesan cheese (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven for broiling.
  • Melt butter, add olive oil, lemon juice and seasonings.
  • Add scallops, stir to coat.
  • Place in broiler, I use a small cake pan.
  • Broil for 3 to 4 minutes, stir and cook for 3 to 4 minutes more or until done.
  • Depending on size of scallops, may take a little longer, mine were dime sized.
  • You may sprinkle a little Parmesan after you take out for a little different taste.
  • Serve hot, maybe with some crusty bread for dipping.

1 tablespoon butter, melted
lemon wedge

Steps:

  • Place the broiler pan on the second rack position to keep the scallops from burning.
  • Combine the first 4 ingredients and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper in a large ziploc plastic bag.
  • Brush scallops with butter.
  • Add scallops to bag, seal and shake to coat.
  • Place scallops on a broiler pan coated with cooking spray.
  • Broil 10 minutes or until done.
  • Serve with lemon wedges.
