This BBQ Spice Rub is fantastic for ribs, but it's also great on pork chops, pork loin, and pork shoulder! You can even add it to your favorite BBQ sauce for an extra kick.

3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar (or 1/2 cup if you prefer a more savory rub)
2 tablespoons kosher salt
2 tablespoons onion powder
2 tablespoons smoked paprika
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1 tablespoon granulated garlic
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon allspice

Steps:

  • Mix: Place all the spices in an airtight glass jar and shake gently to combine.
  • Store: Store in an airtight container for up to a year.

Brian's Legendary BBQ Rub with Pork Ribs Recipe image

Heat the grill! You'll love this easy rub made with Truvia Brown Sugar Blend, which can be used on pork ribs or any meat you choose. These pork ribs with rub have 71% less sugar* per serving than the regular sugar-sweetened version.

1 Tbsp sea salt
1 ½ tsp black pepper
2 Tbsp Truvia Brown Sugar Blend
2 Tbsp chili powder
2 Tbsp paprika
1 tsp cayenne
1 Tbsp ground cumin
1 Tbsp onion powder
2 racks (about 2 lbs each) pork back ribs
1 Tbsp sea salt
1 ½ tsp black pepper
2 Tbsp Truvia Brown Sugar Blend
2 Tbsp chili powder
2 Tbsp paprika
1 tsp cayenne
1 Tbsp ground cumin
1 Tbsp onion powder
2 racks (about 2 lbs each) pork back ribs

Steps:

  • 1.Mix seasonings together. Rub mixture generously on all sides of ribs. 2.Heat gas** or charcoal grill for indirect cooking. For a two-burner gas grill, heat one burner to medium; place pork meaty side up, on unheated side. For a one-burner gas grill, place pork, meaty side up, on grill over low heat. For a charcoal grill, move medium coals to edge of firebox; place pork, meaty side up, on grill rack over drip pan. 3.Cover grill; cook 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes or until tender and no longer pink next to bones. Minimum internal temperature of 145° F. 4.Cut each pork rack into 4 serving pieces. 5.Store leftovers in refrigerator.

I have won many BBQ competitions with this recipe. They are outstanding in a smoker but, can also be done in the oven or on a grill. If you cook them in the oven use baby backs and reduce the cook time. Serve with potato salad and Cole Slaw. It takes years of practice to be able to cook great ribs, this recipe will help you out tremedously. I use Head Country BBQ Sauce if i am not making my own (Recipe #322637) but any good bbq sauce should work. You can purchase Head Country online at http://www.headcountry.com. 6 lbs pork ribs
3 tablespoons salt
3 tablespoons granulated garlic
3 tablespoons pepper
1 (8 ounce) jar honey
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic
3 tablespoons Old Bay Seasoning
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon celery salt
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
1 onion, finely chopped
12 ounces barbecue sauce, Head Country
12 ounces beer, Coors Light

Steps:

  • Season Ribs with Salt, Pepper, Granulated Garlic.
  • Place ribs in a smoker, grill or a cook bone side down for 1 hour @ 300 degrees.
  • Place all sauce ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • After ribs have cooked for 1 hour baste with sauce.
  • Repeat basting every 15 minutes.
  • Cook for 3-4 hour or until done and tender.
  • Enjoy.
