  • Grind chia seeds in a food processor until pulverized; add yogurt, mango juice, blueberries, mango, and vanilla extract and blend until smooth.

  • Peel and slice mango. Combine with spinach and orange juice in VitaMix blender on high for 1 minute. Enjoy your "green drink!".
  • NOTES: For a thick smoothie, use 1/4 cup orange juice. To thin, just add a little more to get the consistency you like. Also, you do need to use a ripe mango. A not-quite-ripe firm one will not yield a very smooth smoothie!

2 Indian Alphonso mango or canned pureed mangos
10 ounces cold milk
1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons sugar, or to taste, according to the size and sweetness of the mangos
Ice cubes, to serve

Steps:

  • Stand one of the mangos upright with the narrow end facing you. Slice off the 'cheeks' on either side of the stone and slice these in half lengthwise. Cut around the stone to take off as much flesh as possible, capturing all the running juices in a bowl.
  • Remove the skin by peeling or cutting the fruit carefully off it. Repeat with the other mango. Discard the skin and puree the flesh and juice in a food processor or blender.
  • Add the milk and sugar, and combine until it becomes a thick smooth mass. Transfer the liquid to a pitcher and chill the mixture until ready to drink. Add the ice cubes to the pitcher and serve straight from the refrigerator. A little goes a long way, so serve in small glasses.

A few tips if you don’t have a powerful blender: try a food processor, try a bullet blender, try letting your frozen fruit defrost for a few minutes before blending, or chop up the fruit into very small pieces before blending, add liquid only a little at a time, and stir it in, and stop every so often and scrape down the sides of the container.
  • Start by adding the non-dairy milk to the container of your blender. Then add the blue spirulina or butterfly pea flower powder, then add the frozen bananas and any other fruit you might be using.
  • Blend, starting on low, and ramp up to the highest speed. If your blender came with a tamper, use that now to encourage the thick mixture to blend. If not, stop every so often and stir or scrape down the sides, adding extra liquid if necessary.
  • Once smooth, pour the contents into a bowl, decorate with desired toppings and enjoy! I used blueberries, raspberries, mango, hemp seeds, and raw pumpkin seeds.
