MAKE-AHEAD BISQUICK SAUSAGE BALL APPETIZERS

Make-Ahead Bisquick Sausage Ball Appetizers image

These are so delicious, I have even made this with pork breakfast sausage meat, do not precook the sausage meat for this as the meat will cook when baked --- make a double batch of these and freeze them, they won't last long! You can also add in a couple teaspoons minced yellow onions or a green onion very finely chopped if desired --- *note* this recipe was developed using original Bisquick baking mix, I cannot promise the same results using a clone mix for this.

CHEESE AND SAUSAGE BALLS

Cheese and Sausage Balls image

From a co-worker in Houston YEARS ago. Great UPDATE!!!! I don't keep bisquick in the house so I was using the food processor and just added the cheese then the sausage......CLEAN HANDS. And in the food processor, they come out much lighter.

Provided by Ambervim

Categories     High In...

Time 50m

Yield 1 Batch

Number Of Ingredients 3

3 cups Bisquick (no bisquick? Just use Bisquick Equivalent Simple and set to 3 cups)
1 lb cheese, grated
1 lb sausage (Jimmy Dean is what she used)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Mix. If your food processor will hold 12 cups, use it, otherwise your hands work well. First pulse in the cheese. Then the sausage and pulse just until all the flour is absorbed. The food processor results are much lighter when cooked. You also get more balls, since they are not so compressed and the hand method.
  • Form balls.
  • Bake about 20 minutes.

BISQUICK SAUSAGE BALLS RECIPE

Bisquick Sausage Balls Recipe image

Bisquick sausage balls are an easy appetizer that you can throw together quickly for a holiday celebration or Super Bowl party.

Provided by Leah Maroney

Categories     Appetizer

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 19

For the Sausage Balls:
1 cup cheddar cheese (freshly shredded)
8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
1 pound breakfast-style ground pork sausage
1 1/2 cups biscuit baking mix (such as Bisquick)
2 tablespoons half and half (or whole milk)
1 tablespoon scallions (chopped)
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
For the Dipping Sauce:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
2 teaspoons ketchup
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoons scallions (chopped)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Preheat the oven to 325 F. Combine all of the sausage ball ingredients in the bowl of a stand mixer using a paddle attachment. You can also mix it with clean hands in a large bowl. Mix until the ingredients are evenly distributed, but don't over mix. This will make the sausage balls tough.
  • Use a cookie scoop to form the sausage mixture into 1-inch balls. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and add the sausage balls to the sheet. Place them slightly apart so they are not touching.
  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should read 165 F.
  • As they are baking, prepare the dipping sauce.
  • Whisk all of the dipping sauce ingredients in a small bowl until thoroughly combined. You can make the sauce a few days ahead of time. The longer it sits, the more the flavor will develop.
  • Serve the sausage balls with some chopped chives and the dipping sauce. You can serve them hot or at room temperature.
