Overnight oats are just oats soaked overnight that absorb the liquid you put them in - any kind of liquid you like! The most common mixture is equal parts raw rolled oats, milk and yogurt (I like 1/3 or 1/2 cup of each). You can use any kind of yogurt or milk. Put in the fridge overnight (uncovered or covered, your choice) and let 'em soak up the liquids.

1/3 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup milk of your choice
1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt (You can use regular non-Greek yogurt too! )
1/3 cup fresh or frozen fruit (Berries, banana, chopped apple!)
1 tbsp chia seeds (Optional, but they will help it thicken up!)
1 pinch kosher salt
1 pinch cinnamon

Steps:

  • Stir everything together in a bowl.
  • Place in fridge overnight.
  • In the morning top with something crunchy and something with healthy fats - like nut butter or nuts.

1/3 to 1/2 cup liquid such as dairy milk, almond, cashew or coconut milk
1/3 to 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1/3 to 1/2 cup yogurt, optional
1 teaspoon chia seeds, optional but highly recommended
1/2 banana, mashed, optional
Serving suggestions: fruit (fresh or dried), nuts, nut butter, seeds, protein powder, granola, coconut, spices, citrus zest and vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Add the desired amounts of milk, oats, yogurt, chia seeds and banana to a jar or container and give them a good stir. Refrigerate overnight or for at least 5 hours.
  • In the morning, add additional liquid if you'd like. Once you achieve the desired consistency, top with fruit, nuts, nut butter, seeds, protein powder, granola, coconut, spices, zest or vanilla extract.

  • The next day, loosen with a little more water (or milk) if needed. Top with the yogurt, berries, a drizzle of honey and the nut butter.

85g gluten-free jumbo oats
1 tbsp shelled hemp seeds, plus 2 tsp to serve
1 tbsp chia seeds
2 x 120g pots kefir yogurt
240g semi-skimmed milk
125g raspberries, lightly crushed
2 tsp pumpkin seeds, chopped
8g 70% cocoa chocolate, finely chopped

Steps:

  • Tip the oats, 1 tbsp of the hemp seeds and the chia seeds into a bowl, then mix well. Stir in the kefir yogurt and milk. Cover and chill overnight. The mixture will thicken overnight as it soaks.
  • The next morning, spoon into two glass tumblers and top with the raspberries, remaining hemp seeds, the pumpkin seeds and chocolate.
