This yummy baked spaghetti casserole will be requested again and again for potlucks and family gatherings. It's especially popular with my grandchildren, who just love baked spaghetti with all the cheese. -Louise Miller, Westminster, Maryland

1 package (16 ounces) spaghetti
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 jar (24 ounces) pasta sauce
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
2 large eggs
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
5 tablespoons butter, melted
2 cups 4% cottage cheese
4 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
Chopped fresh basil, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Cook spaghetti according to package directions for al dente. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until beef is no longer pink and onion is tender, 6-8 minutes, breaking up beef into crumbles; drain. Stir in pasta sauce and seasoned salt; set aside., In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, Parmesan cheese and butter. Drain spaghetti; add to egg mixture and toss to coat., Place half of the spaghetti mixture in a greased 13x9-in. or 3-qt. baking dish. Top with half of the cottage cheese, meat sauce and mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers. Place baking dish on a rimmed baking sheet., Cover and bake for 40 minutes. Uncover; bake until heated through, 20-25 minutes longer. Let stand 15 minutes before serving. If desired, sprinkle with basil.

1 pound lean ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, peeled and quartered
1 can (15 ounce size) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can (8 ounce size) low-sodium tomato sauce
1 1/2 cup water
2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
8 ounces uncooked spaghetti or linguine pasta, broken into thirds
3/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese or Monterey Jack cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, onion, and garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until the beef is no longer pink. Drain off any excess grease. Stir in the tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, Italian seasoning, and salt. Bring the mixture to a simmer. Stir in the broken pasta and let cook for 5 minutes stirring occasionally. Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes. Remove the foil and sprinkle the top of the spaghetti with the cheese. Return to the oven and bake uncovered for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the casserole is bubbly. Serve hot.

I looked everywhere for an easy baked spaghetti that did NOT use mushrooms or cream of mushroom soup (husband is allergic). I am happy to say I found it. You could add mushrooms, green pepper, olives, etc. to this dish for added variety, but I like it just the way it is! This makes a great family meal...just add a tossed salad and some garlic bread, and dinner is ready in about an hour.

1 (26 ounce) can spaghetti sauce

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Cook noodles in boiling water; drain.
  • Meanwhile, brown ground beef and garlic over medium heat; drain.

This is an amazingly cheese-rich dish. I love making this to take to friends' homes as a drop off meal. It gets rave reviews every time! The recipe is adapted from a restaurant in the Mall of America called Tucci Benucch. I attended the restaurant at a business meeting and they gave us a recipe for the baked spaghetti that I have made a few changes to. My husband prefers it without the marinara/meatball topping, but if you're looking to stretch the recipe that's a great way to do it.

1 pound spaghetti
1 pound shredded mozzarella and provolone cheese blend
2 (16 ounce) jars Alfredo sauce (such as Ragu®)
½ cup ricotta cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 (16 ounce) jar marinara sauce, or to taste
1 (16 ounce) package frozen cooked meatballs, or to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

8 ounces spaghetti, uncooked
1 large onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, peeled and chopped
1 lb ground beef
1 (14 ounce) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 (10 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 1/2 cups water
2 teaspoons italian seasoning
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated

Steps:

  • In a large frying pan, cook onion, garlic and ground beef until meat is browned, drain.
  • Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, one cup of water, seasonings.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • White meat mixture is simmering, break up spaghetti strands into three parts, Place in an ovenproof casserole dish such as a 9 X 13.
  • Add the other 1/2 cup water and mix with raw spaghetti.
  • Add meat mixture and combine all ingredients.
  • Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
