- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Line a baking sheet with waxed or parchment paper. In a mixer, cream the butter. Add the granulated sugar and beat until fluffy. Add the eggs, milk, and extracts and mix to combine. In a large bowl, combine the flours, baking powder, and salt and mix well. Add the dry ingredients to the sugar-egg mixture and mix to blend. Using an ice-cream scoop, scoop the dough onto the prepared pans. With a spatula, press and spread each cookie into a circle about 5 inches in diameter and about 3/8-inch thickness. Bake for about 20 minutes, until golden. Let cool on wire racks.
- Icing: In a medium bowl, stir the sugar, milk, and vanilla together until it forms a smooth icing. Transfer half of the icing to another bowl and stir in the cocoa powder and milk until smooth.
- When cool, turn cookies over, so the flat side faces up. Spread white icing on half of each flat surface, then spread the other half with chocolate icing. Let set at room temperature for 30 minutes.
AUNT FRAN'S BLACK AND WHITE BARS
I came across this simple recipe today. It was amongst many others that I received at my bridal shower. I fondly remember my husband's Aunt Fran. She made a lot of great desserts. This is one of many of hers. I hope you all enjoy these simple yet delicious bars.

- 1. Grease a 9 x 13" pan and set aside.
- 2. in a large mixing bowl . Beat butter, sugar and eggs until fluffy.
- 3. Add in flour and salt. Beat until well combined. Add in vanilla and mix well.
- 4. Divide dough into thirds. At this point you can add nuts to the remaining two thirds of batter, if you prefer. Place two thirds of the dough in the 9 x 13" pan. Spread evenly.
- 5. Add the melted chocolate to the remaining one third of batter. Mix well. At this point if you want to deeper chocolate flavor add a couple tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder.
- 6. Place spoonfuls of chocolate mixture randomly across top of batter in pan. Run a knife through mixture to make a marbled look. bake at 350° until done. It should take approximately 30 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.
- 7. Note: I also think the bars would be really great with a nice dark chocolate frosting.

- In a small bowl combine sugar and cinnamon.
- Set Aside.
- Combine pudding and cake mix with eggs, oil, water and vanilla.
- Mix well.
- Grease and flour 9x13 inch pan.
- (This cake rises considerably and needs a large pan.) Sprinkle half of the nuts on the bottom of the pan.
- Spread half of the batter over the nuts.
- Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon mixture.
- Add rest of batter.
- Sprinkle top with nuts.
- Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden tooth pick comes out clean.
- Mix powdered sugar and milk.
- Drizzle glaze over cake whil hot.
