SIMPLE SESAME NOODLES



Simple Sesame Noodles image

Number Of Ingredients 9

12 ounces thin noodles
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup canola oil
3 tablespoons pure sesame oil
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1/2 teaspoon hot chili oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
4 green onions, thinly sliced

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook the noodles according to the package instructions.
  • Meanwhile, whisk together the soy sauce, canola oil, sesame oil, sugar, vinegar, chili oil and garlic in a bowl. Taste and adjust the ingredients as needed.
  • Drain the noodles. Pour the sauce over the warm noodles and toss to coat. Sprinkle with the green onions and toss. Serve in a bowl with chopsticks. Yummy!

Stir fried apricot chicken with noodles. Sure to please picky eaters, what is even better is it takes less than 20 minutes to have on the table!!

2 large chicken fillets
1 (425 g) can apricot nectar
40 g sachet French onion soup
1 (425 g) can apricot halves
1 (200 g) packet cellophane noodles
1/2 tablespoon oil, for the pan
1 (500 g) bag frozen stir fry vegetables

Steps:

  • Prepare the noodles as per the packet directs and continue the below steps while softening.
  • Slice the chicken in to strips.
  • In a large fry pan add the oil and fry the chicken until just sealed.
  • Meanwhile combine the soup mix, apricots and nectar together.
  • Add the frozen vegetables and the apricot mixture over the chicken and stir fry for about 5 minutes.
  • Drain the noodles and add into the chicken mixture.
  • Cook for a further 2 minutes (just to heat through).
  • Serve immediately.

80 ml reduced-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons miso
1 1/2 tablespoons sushi seasoning
1 tablespoon finely grated fresh ginger
270 g udon noodles
3 teaspoons vegetable oil
500 g beef steaks, thinly sliced (rump)
1 white onion, halved, thinly sliced
1 garlic clove, crushed
1 carrot, peeled, cut into matchsticks
3 cups shredded cabbage
2 tablespoons water
1 small shallot, thinly sliced, to serve
2 teaspoons sesame seeds, toasted, to serve

Steps:

  • Combine soy sauce, miso paste, sushi seasoning and ginger in a bowl. Set aside.
  • Cook noodles in a saucepan of boiling water for 8 minutes or until just tender. Refresh under cold water. Drain. Set aside.
  • Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in a wok or large non-stick frying pan on high heat. Stir-fry half the beef for 2-3 minutes or until browned. Transfer to a bowl. Repeat with remaining beef, reheating wok between batches.
  • Heat remaining oil in wok on high heat. Stir-fry onion for 1-2 minutes or until soft. Add garlic, carrot, cabbage and water. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes or until carrot is tender-crisp. Add noodles, beef and soy sauce mix. Stir-fry for 2 minutes or until heated through. Divide among bowls. Top with shallot and sesame seeds.

1 kg boneless shin beef
2 tablespoons flour, seasoned
1 onion, grated
1 1/4 cups apricot nectar
1/4 cup dried apricot
2 teaspoons soft brown sugar
2 tablespoons tomato sauce
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon malt vinegar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons curry powder

Steps:

  • Cut the beef into 2cm (1 3/4 inch) cubes and toss in seasoned flour to coat.
  • Place in crockpot or slowcooker with the remaining ingredients.
  • Cover and cook on low for 7 to 8 hours, or high for 4-5 hours until the meat is very tender.
  • Serve with boiled rice and a green salad.
  • TO COOK IN THE OVEN;- Place the flour coated beef in a casserole dish with the remaining ingredients, cover and cook in a moderately low oven, (160c/325f/gas 3) for 2 to 2 1/2 hours until tender.

1 lb thinly sliced beef, cut into strips
1 -2 teaspoon dried chili pepper flakes (optional or to taste)
1 -2 tablespoon fresh minced garlic (or to taste)
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 (3 ounce) packages ramen noodles, uncooked
2 tablespoons oil
2 cups snow peas
1 medium red bell pepper, diced large
3/4 cup apricot preserves
1/2 cup beef broth
3 tablespoons chopped green onions
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds, divided

Steps:

  • Combine the sliced beef with dried chili flakes, mustard, soy sauce and garlic (if using) refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.
  • Cook noodles according to package directions (omitting seasoning packages).
  • Heat oil in large skillet, over medium-high heat, until hot.
  • Add beef with marinade; stir-fry 2 minutes.
