APPLE STREUSEL BARS
I made these delicious bars for a friend's birthday once and now he requests them every year! They have a tasty tartness with a cinnamony kick. Be sure to chop the apples into small cubes -if the apple pieces are too big the bars will fall apart. -Danielle Millwer, Tonawanda, New York

- Preheat oven to 350°. Mix flour, cracker crumbs, oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar and sugar. Stir in butter. Reserve 1 cup crumb mixture for topping. Press remaining mixture onto bottom of a greased 13x9-in. pan. Bake until set, 8-10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack., Mix apples, spices and remaining brown sugar. Spread over crust; sprinkle with reserved topping. Bake until apples are tender, 30-35 minutes. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack., Mix confectioners' sugar and milk; drizzle over top. Cut into bars.

APPLE STREUSEL
Steps:
- Gather the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 350 F.
- Peel, core, and slice the apples. Slice on the thinner side and make them the same thickness so they will cook evenly.
- Grease a large casserole dish with butter. Add the apples to the dish and toss with the flour, brown sugar, salt, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and ground cinnamon. Toss until the apples are completely coated.
- Gather the ingredients.
- Melt the butter in a medium-sized bowl in the microwave.
- Mix in the salt, flour, sugar, and vanilla extract with a fork until the ingredients form a crumbly, damp dough.
- Crumble the streusel over the top of the apple slices.
- Bake in the preheated oven, uncovered for 35 minutes or until the top is browned and the apples are softened. Allow to cool for a few minutes and then serve with fresh whipped cream or ice cream.

- HEAT oven to 350 degrees F. Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking soda, salt and nutmeg in large bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve 1 3/4 cups crumb mixture; press remaining crumb mixture onto bottom of an ungreased 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Bake 15 minutes.
- ARRANGE apples over partially baked crust. Mix sweetened condensed milk and 1/2 cup caramel topping until blended. Pour evenly over apples. Add walnuts to reserved crumb mixture; sprinkle over apple layer.
- BAKE 45 to 50 minutes or until apples are tender. Cool in pan on wire rack. Serve warm topped with vanilla ice cream and remaining caramel topping.

"Crisp fall apples, tossed in cinnamon and baked with delicious streusel. Almost as good as pie, with half the calories and it's in the oven in 10 minutes! - Grease the bottom only of a small (4 cups or so) casserole dish. Peel and core the apples, slice and place in a bowl. Top with sugar, cinnamon and vanilla, toss to coat. Set aside while preparing topping.
