CLASSIC FRENCH VINAIGRETTE

A simple french vinaigrette, with clean flavours. If tarragon isn't your favourite herb, you may choose to try another herb instead. When salad dressings from scratch are this simple, why buy processed, store bought?

AMERICAN KITCHEN CLASSIC FRENCH VINAIGRETTE

American Kitchen Classic French Vinaigrette image

The classic Vinaigrette is a salad dressing in the French cuisine. Other cuisines that have had interactions with the French also offer vinaigrettes but with local variations. A basic vinaigrette is nothing more than 3 parts oil and 1 part vinegar with a pinch of salt. This recipe expands on the basic recipe and gives you a bit more flavor.

AMERICAN KITCHEN CLASSIC FRENCH DRESSING

American Kitchen Classic French Dressing image

French Dressing, in America, originally was nothing more than a 'vinaigrette' but along the way morphed into a completely different animal with the addition of tomato sauce and mustard along with various spices. Catalina Dressing, which the food company Kraft invented, is more red and a little sweeter that basic French Dressing. There is no record of the changes made to the basic vinaigrette so no one knows when this occurred.

FRENCH VINAIGRETTE

French Vinaigrette image

I got this recipe from a random internet search when I was looking for a salad dressing to serve during my French-themed dinner night. This totally reminds me of something I've eaten in a restaraunt...it's so good, and ended up being my favorite part of the entire meal! Best served over a bed of mixed organic baby greens. There aren't a lot of ingredients, so substitutions are not recommended.
