My sisters and I always requested this cake for our birthdays. Now, my daughters ask for it for their birthdays!

Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups white sugar
⅝ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups cold water
2 teaspoons distilled white vinegar
⅔ cup vegetable oil

Steps:

Mix all ingredients right in a 9 x 13 inch pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 35 minutes. Remove from oven and cool. Frost with your favorite frosting.

Ingredients

1½ cups flour
1 cup sugar
⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 cup water
⅓ cup vegetable oil
1 Tbsp white vinegar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate frosting for topping

Steps:

Preheat oven to 350°F and spray an 11x7 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
Make a depression in the dry ingredient mixture. Pour in the water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla extract into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Whisk to combine.
Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes. The cake is full baked when a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool completely and then frost with chocolate frosting (or your favorite frosting!)
