Sugar cookies with an almond glaze, These delicate, sweet almond cookies will melt in your mouth.

Cookie
1 cup Land O Lakes® Butter softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Glaze
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon almond extract
4 to 5 teaspoons water
Sliced almonds

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F.
  • Combine all cookie ingredients in bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed.
  • Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart, onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten balls to 1/4 inch thick with bottom of buttered glass dipped in sugar. Bake 7-9 minutes or until edges are very lightly browned. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to cooling rack. Cool completely.
  • Whisk all glaze ingredients except almonds together in bowl. Decorate cooled cookies with glaze and sliced almonds, as desired.

1 cup butter, softened
2/3 cup confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup 2% milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 package (7 ounces) almond paste
VANILLA ICING:
1 cup confectioners' sugar
4-1/2 teaspoons 2% milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
CHOCOLATE ICING:
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 ounce unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
3 tablespoons 2% milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Assorted sprinkles

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°. In a large bowl, cream butter and confectioners' sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in milk and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour., Cut almond paste into 12 slices (about 1/4 in. thick); cut each into quarters. Shape into balls. Wrap tablespoons of cookie dough around almond paste to cover completely. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets., Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks to cool completely., In a small bowl, mix vanilla icing ingredients until smooth. For chocolate icing, mix confectioners' sugar, cooled chocolate, milk and vanilla until smooth. Dip cookies in icings as desired; allow excess to drip off. Decorate with sprinkles. Place on waxed paper; let stand until set. Store in airtight containers.

1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
24 maraschino cherries
GLAZE:
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon butter, melted
2 tablespoons maraschino cherry juice
Additional confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add milk and vanilla. Combine flour and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture. , Divide dough into 24 portions; shape each portion around a cherry, forming a ball. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 18-20 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool., For glaze, combine sugar, butter and cherry juice until smooth. Drizzle over cookies. Dust with confectioners' sugar.

I would say that this is one of my favorite glazes that is great on almost anything. I use this glaze on my homemade Louisiana Crunch Cake, on homemade doughnuts, and on cinnamon rolls! Delicious!!!

2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Steps:

  • In a medium sized bowl mix all ingredients together until smooth. Add more milk for desired consistency. You may also use regular milk, but I must say that evaporated milk gives a WAY better taste!
  • Drizzle over desired desserts.

White candy sprinkles, edible glitter or coarse sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
4 to 5 teaspoons milk

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F. In large bowl, beat flour, butter, 1/3 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk and the vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon. Cut almond paste into 1/2-inch slices; cut each slice into fourths.
  • Shape 1-inch ball of dough around each piece of almond paste. Gently roll to form ball. Place about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake cookies 10 to 12 minutes or until set and bottom is golden brown. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  • In small bowl, mix all Almond Frosting ingredients until smooth. Dip tops of cookies into frosting. Sprinkle with edible glitter.

1/8 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, beat butter, confectioners' sugar and salt until blended. Beat in vanilla. Gradually beat in flour. (Dough will be crumbly.), Press a tablespoon of dough around five chocolate chips, covering completely. Repeat with remaining dough and chocolate chips. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 12-15 minutes or until bottoms are light brown. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool completely., For glaze, place frosting in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high 10-15 seconds or until melted; stir until blended. (Frosting may separate slightly when warmed but will become smooth after stirring.) 1 (3 1/2 ounce) package almond paste

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350*.
  • In small saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate in milk, stirring occasionally until smooth.
  • In large bowl, beat 1/4 cup sugar and margarine until light and fluffy.
  • Blend in chocolate mixture and vanilla.
  • Stir in flour and salt; mix well.
  • Using rounded teaspoonfuls of dough, shape into ball.
  • Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Make an indentation in center of each cookie.
  • Fill each with scant 1/4 tsp.
  • almond paste; press dough around filling to cover.
  • Bake at 350* for 9 to 11 minutes or until set.
