This easy bread is excellent with anything from meatloaf, to soups, to chicken. Tastes wonderful, but is pretty crumbly.

1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup white sugar
2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
¾ teaspoon salt
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 egg, beaten
¾ cup milk
⅓ cup vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cheese. In another large bowl, beat together egg, milk and oil. Stir the flour/cheese mixture into the egg mixture, stirring until just moistened. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of loaf comes out clean.

½ teaspoon salt
1 ½ cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 ½ cups milk
2 tablespoons butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease a loaf pan.
  • Stir together flour, baking powder, salt, and cheese in a large bowl. Mix in milk and melted butter. Stir to form a soft dough. Spoon dough into prepared pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven, until a toothpick inserted in the center of the loaf comes out clean, about 34 to 40 minutes. Remove from pan to cool.

10 slices land o lakes cheddar cheese (2 1/4x1x1/4-inch, about 1/2 of 8-ounce package)
10 slices land o lakes monterey jack cheese (2 1/4x1x1/4-inch, about 1/2 of 8-ounce package)
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F Cut loaf into 10 (1-inch) slices almost to bottom crust.
  • Combine butter, poppy seed and garlic salt in small bowl; mix well. Brush cut-sides of bread with butter mixture.
  • Place 1 slice cheddar and 1 slice Monterey jack cheese in each cut; sprinkle with parsley.
  • Wrap loaves loosely in heavy-duty aluminum foil; seal top and ends.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until heated through and cheese is melted.

12 ounces colby cheese, shredded
1 tablespoon whole powdered milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons whole milk

Steps:

  • Line 5-by 4-inch disposable aluminum loaf pan with plastic wrap, allowing excess to hang over sides.
  • Place water in small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over top, and let mixture sit for 5 minutes. Pulse cheese, milk powder, salt, and cream of tartar in food processor until combined, about 3 pulses.
  • Meanwhile, bring milk to boil in small saucepan. Off heat, stir in softened gelatin until dissolved, and transfer mixture to 1-cup liquid measuring cup. With processor running, slowly add hot milk mixture to cheese mixture until smooth, about 1 minute, scraping down bowl as needed.
  • 4. Immediately transfer cheese mixture to prepared pan, pressing to compact. Wrap tightly and chill at least 3 hours, or overnight.
