The latest trend in purified food, smoothie bowls are smoothies that you eat from a bowl. Because they don't have to be slurped through a straw, you can blend in ingredients like seeds, frozen bananas, nut butters or even avocado for added heft and texture. Adorned with colorful slices of fruit and strategically positioned nuts and seeds, these bowls can look like edible works of art.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 cup unsweetened coconut milk, plus more if needed
2 tablespoons chia seeds, soaked for at least 20 minutes in some of the coconut milk
Dash cinnamon
2 heaping handfuls organic spinach
1 frozen banana
One 100-gram packet frozen organic acai berry pulp
Ice, to thicken

Steps:

  • Add the coconut milk, soaked chia seeds, cinnamon, spinach, banana and acai berry pulp to the pitcher of a high-speed blender and process until thick and creamy. The texture should be very thick; if too thick, then add more coconut milk. If you stick a spoon into the mixture, the mixture should be able to be thick enough to stay on the spoon; if not, add ice or more frozen bananas.

1 banana
1 handful frozen blueberries
1 handful frozen raspberries
100 g organic acai berries
1 splash of low fat milk
1 handful blackberry
1 handful granola cereal

Steps:

  • Add the banana, frozen berries, acai berry pulp and the splash of low fat milk into a powerful blender.
  • Pour the well blended mixture into a bowl. Top with remaining banana, blueberries, blackberries and granola for crunchiness!

  • Prep acai: Let frozen acai packets sit out at room temperature for a couple minutes, just enough for the packaging to loosen. Remove from package and cut or break the frozen pack into pieces.
  • Load blender: Add acai, milk, banana chunks, berries, peanut butter and protein powder into your blender.
  • Blend: Pop the lid on your blender and begin on low, slowly increasing speed as everything starts to combine. Use the tamper on your blender to push things around. This might take a bit just because everything is frozen and the smoothie bowl will be thick (but this is what we want)!
  • Serve: Once everything is combined and smooth, scoop your blended smoothie into a bowl and top with granola, banana slices, fresh fruit and an extra drizzle of peanut butter, if desired.
