This is a very simple & quick version of the traditional stroganoff - my family actually prefers this to the real kind.

1 lb hamburger
1/2 cup diced onion
1/4 cup butter
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/2 cup mushroom
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup chives
12 ounces cooked noodles

Steps:

  • Saute onions in butter, add hamburger & brown.
  • Add garlic powder, flour, salt, pepper, paprika & mushrooms. Simmer for 5 or 6 minutes.
  • Add cream of chicken soup and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Now add sour cream, blending well & simmer for an additional 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Serve hot over noddles & garnish with chives.

This is a recipe I found in a Lutheran Medical center family cookbook from the 1960's. It's very easy and quick to put throw together during the week and it tastes great.

1/2 cup chopped onion
1 garlic cloves or 1 garlic salt
1 lb ground beef
salt & pepper
1 (8 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1 (8 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
1 (5 1/2 ounce) package noodles (cooked)
1 cup sour cream

Steps:

  • Combine meat, onions, garlic, salt and pepper in skillet. Brown. Before meat is completely done, add 2 soups and cooked noodles. Cook on low 25 to 30 minutes covered. When ready to serve, stir in sour cream. Serve with salad, French or garlic bread for a quick meal. Meal mixture may be prepared ahead of time and cooled in refrigerator. When ready to serve, heat and add sour cream. Makes 6 servings.

1 lb lean ground beef
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 small onion, chopped
2 cups sour cream
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup water
2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
1/2 teaspoon fresh-ground pepper
egg noodles or rice

Steps:

  • Brown beef, garlic, and onion in a large skillet.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine sour cream and flour.
  • Stir in water, bouillon granules, and pepper, and mix with a wire whisk until smooth.
  • Set aside.
  • When meat is cooked, add sour cream mixture to the skillet.
  • Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly.
  • Cook and stir for one minute more.
  • Serve over egg noodles or rice.

This is really fast to make for hungry adults who don't want pizza and are ready to eat in 20 minutes. If serving with rice, start the rice cooking first! It's perfect for before you all go out or right after the kids have gone to bed and you are all hungry. But never boil it at the end! I once had this all ready to serve when my sister's boyfriend went over & turned up the heat 'cause he was hungry and it all separated out! It's really that quick.It still tasted good, but he didn't like the way it looked. Next time we put him in charge of cooking the rice ; )

1 lb beef steak, cut into 2-inch strips
8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
4 ounces onions, chopped
1/4 pint beef stock
5 ounces natural yoghurt
1 grated orange rind
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons cooking oil

Steps:

  • Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large frying pan.
  • Fry the beef in oil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Add the orange rind, beef stock, salt and pepper and mushrooms.
  • Cook gently for 10 minutes.
  • Remove from heat.
  • (If anyone likes onions, fry them up now in the pan.).
  • Stir in the natural yoghurt, heat through very very gently, then serve straightaway with rice.

1 (8 ounce) package egg noodles
1 pound ground beef
1 (10.75 ounce) can fat free condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 tablespoon garlic powder
½ cup sour cream
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Prepare the egg noodles according to package directions and set aside.
  • In a separate large skillet over medium heat, saute the ground beef over medium heat for 5 to 10 minutes, or until browned. Drain the fat and add the soup and garlic powder. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat and combine the meat mixture with the egg noodles. Add the sour cream, stirring well, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 lbs beef, cut into bite-sized cubes
1/2 cup white flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup onion, chopped
3 cups water
3 cups beef broth
1.5 (1 ounce) envelopes onion soup mix
1 (10 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 (16 ounce) package uncooked egg noodles
2 cups frozen peas
1/2 cup sour cream

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a large pot on low heat.
  • Place flour, salt, and pepper in a gallon sized zip-lock bag. Add the beef and toss until all pieces are well-coated.
  • Place all pieces of beef in hot oil and cook until browned on all sides.
  • Add onions and garlic and cook for 5 minutes on medium-low heat.
  • Add water, broth, soup mix, mushroom soup, and worcestershire sauce. Bring to a slow boil, stirring so nothing sticks to the bottom of the pan.
  • Add egg noodles and peas,stirring until well mixed.Liquid should almost cover the ingredients, if not, add a litle more water.
  • Bring to a slow boil, stirring occasionally, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes or until noodles are tender.
  • Turn off heat and stir in sour cream to finish.

1 (12 ounce) package egg noodles, cooked and drained
6 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 onion, chopped
¼ cup butter
2 pounds lean ground beef
4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 cup sour cream
salt and black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook egg noodles in boiling water until done, about 8 minutes. Drain.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. In a large skillet, cook mushrooms and onions in 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat until soft; remove from pan.
  • Using the same pan, melt remaining butter. Cook ground beef in melted butter until browned. Mix in flour. Stir in beef broth, and cook until slightly thickened. 4-1/2 cups uncooked yolk-free noodles
1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
1/2 pound sliced fresh mushrooms
1 large onion, halved and sliced
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon reduced-fat butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) reduced-sodium beef broth
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 cup reduced-fat sour cream
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Chopped fresh parsley, optional

Steps:

  • Cook noodles according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, cook the beef, mushrooms and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Drain. Remove and keep warm., In the same pan, melt butter. Stir in flour until smooth; gradually add broth and tomato paste. 1 lb round steak, sliced in thin strips (or any leftover beef, one of the very best we have had was made with leftover smoked tri-tip, the sm)
1/2 onion, chopped
2 tablespoons butter
2 (1 1/2 ounce) packages brown gravy mix
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup sour cream

Steps:

  • Saute the beef and the onion in 2 T of butter.
  • There will be alot of"juice" in the pan so I turn up the heat for a couple of minutes to reduce the liquid.
  • (Start your rice or your noodles at this point).
  • Add the brown gravy mix to the water and stir to dissolve.
  • Add gravy mixture to meat and stir constantly until thick.
  • If you are in a hurry, you can add the sour cream at this point and be done with it or you can simmer the meat and gravy until your noodles or rice are done, then add the sour cream right before serving.
  • Serve over rice or noodles.
  • Makes 4 large servings.
  • (If you like red wine, you can add 1/2 cup of red wine and 1 cup of water for the liquid).
