250 grams fish fillets
100 grams breadcrumbs
4 tablespoon all purpose flour
2 Numbers egg
0 As required salt
0 As required black pepper
1 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Steps:

  • To prepare this delicious snack, cut the fish fillets in desired shapes and drizzle them with lemon juice and season with salt and black pepper. Keep aside for a while.
  • Then, take a bowl and beat the eggs in it. Take a plate with all purpose flour. In another plate, spread the breadcrumbs.
  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium flame. Make sure it is warm enough.
  • Now take the fish fillets, roll them on the all-purpose flour, then dip in the egg mixture and then roll them again on the bread crumbs.

1 1/2 to 2 pounds fresh cod
Salt and pepper
1 /2 cup all-purpose unbleached flour
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons cold water, a splash
2 cups plain bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon dried mustard powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, a few pinches
Wedged lemons and malt vinegar for topping

Steps:

  • Pour 2-inches of vegetable oil into a large skillet. Place skillet over large burner and heat oil over medium high heat. To check if the oil is hot enough, drop in 1-inch cube of white bread. The bread should brown in a 40 count.
  • Cut cod into 4 servings, 6 to 8-ounce portions and season with salt and pepper. Place a couple of scoops of flour in a pie tin. Combine egg and water in second tin. Season plain bread crumbs and mustard and cayenne in the third tin. Coat fish in flour, then egg, and then bread crumbs. Gently set coated fish into hot oil and fry 5 minutes on each side until medium golden brown in color.
  • When the fish is evenly golden all over, remove and drain on brown paper sacks.
  • Suggested: 3 disposable pie tins .

Whole fish - 6 (350g)
Turmeric powder - ½ teaspoon
Curry powder/Chilli powder - ½ tablespoon
Thin tamarind juice - 100ml
Water - As you need (I used 150ml)
All-purpose flour - As you need (I used 100g)
Breadcrumbs - As you need (I used 100g)
Salt - As you need
Cooking oil - As you need

Steps:

  • Take the fishes, clean, and rinse thoroughly. Place them in the pan. Add turmeric powder, curry powder, and salt.
  • Add the tamarind juice and water. Mix everything well and switch on the flame. (Refer Note 1)
  • Cook uncovered under high flame until the fish gets boiled and all the water disappears. For me, it takes about 10 minutes. During this time period, in the halfway through, turn the fishes to the next side.
  • Let the fishes cool down.
  • Now take the all purpose flour and add salt to it. (Refer Note 2)
  • Add water time to time and mix well using your fingers.
  • Make a smooth and thick liquid batter.
  • Carefully take off the fishes from the pan and soak it into the batter you prepared.
  • Now coat the fish with the breadcrumbs.
  • Do the same process to all the boiled fishes.
  • Heat the oil in a deep fry pan and fry the fishes under medium flame until it turns to golden color.
  • Serve and enjoy this Sri Lankan style whole fish fry with bread crumbs recipe.

  • Wisk together batter ingediients in a large mixing bowl until smooth. should be the Consistency of runny pancake batter.
  • Put as much of your meat in the bowl with the batter as you can, and make sure it is all well coated with the batter. let it set for at least 5 minutes.
  • Combine the dry ingredients in a 9 X 13 baking pan, make sure they are well mixed.
  • Reserve 1 cup of dry mix and spread it evenly on a platter this keeps the pieces from getting soggy and pulling the breading off of each other.
  • Use the wet hand, dry hand method and take each battered piece and dredge it in the dry mix until well coated and then move to platter, do not stack the pieces.
  • only prepare as many pieces as willl fit in your deep fryer in one batch.
  • Do each batch seperately just before putting in fryer and fry until medium brown following your Fryers directions.
  • Don't try to Stretch the dry mix, when it gets soggy and too clumpy, make a new batch of dry mix.

8 medium white fish fillets or 4 large white fish fillets
110 g plain flour or 110 g self raising flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 tablespoon butter, melted
150 ml milk
to taste lemon wedge (to garnish)

Steps:

  • Half-fill a deep pan with melted fat or oil. Heat until a faint haze rises from it (or until a bread cube sinks to the bottom of the pan, rises to the top immediately and turns golden in 50 seconds).
  • Sift the flour and salt into a bowl.
  • Beat to a smooth batter, unbeaten egg, butter and milk. Then add the flour and salt mixture.
  • Coat 2 pieces of fish with batter.
  • Lift into the pan with a fork or kitchen tongs.
  • Fry until crisp and golden, allowing about 6-8 minutes for large pieces and 4-5 minutes for medium.
  • Remove from the pan and drain on absorbent kitchen paper.
  • Repeat with the remaining fish.
  • Garnish with lemon wedges.

  • Take the fish out of the fridge and rinse it under cold water, checking for any remaining scales. Remove the gills if they are still there. You can snip off the fins with kitchen shears if you want. Use a sharp kitchen knife to slash the sides of the fish perpendicular to the backbone. Make the slices at an angle, from the tail end toward the head end. This opens up the fish to the hot oil and makes it cook faster. Salt the fish well and set aside.
  • Make the dipping sauce by combining all the ingredients in a bowl. Make sure everything is chopped fine. Set aside.
  • A wok is the best thing to use for cooking these fish, unless you have a deep fryer. I have both, and still prefer the wok. A large frying pan will work, too. Heat the oil until it is between 330°F and 350°F. Fry the crushed garlic cloves until they are a lovely brown and remove.
  • Gently put one or two fish into the hot oil. It's OK if the tails and heads are not submerged. It will sizzle violently, so watch yourself. Use a large spoon to baste the fish with the hot oil as it cooks. Fry like this a solid 6 to 10 minutes, depending on how thick the fish is. You want it very crispy and golden brown. Carefully flip the fish -- I use two spatulas to do this. Fry another 5 to 8 minutes. Repeat with any remaining fish. If you do have to do this in batches, let the cooked fish rest on a rack set over a baking sheet in a 200°F oven.
