Warning! Addictive! I got this recipe out of our local newspaper. They melt in you mouth. These go into my holiday gift tins every year and they are always a big hit. This recipe makes about 150 pieces, so unless you want that many, you may want to halve it.

Ingredients

2 lbs white chocolate or 2 lbs almond bark
1 cup peanut butter
3 cups peanuts
3 cups miniature marshmallows
4 cups Rice Krispies

Steps:

Melt chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave, being careful not to over cook.
Stir in peanut butter, blend well.
Mix with other ingredients until well blended.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. (about the size of a small walnut).
Let stand until set.

I subscribed to a food blog called Slashfood, which featured this recipe recently. Of course, I just had to go and make it. It satisfies on so many levels, you can't even begin to count them!

Ingredients

1/4 cup unsalted butter, plus more
unsalted butter, for greasing the dish
10 ounces large marshmallows
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
6 cups crispy rice cereal
6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

Melt the butter over low heat in a large pot.
Stir in the marshmallows and cook until fully melted and no marshmallow white remains.
Stir in the peanut butter until combined.
Stir in the cereal until distributed evenly through the marshmallow mixture.
Pour out onto a lightly greased rectangular baking dish (9 by 13 inches).
Smooth out the top of the treats by moistening your hands with a little water and using the palms of your hand to press down gently. Don't press down too hard or else your treats will be too dense.
Set aside to cool.
Once the treats have cooled, melt the chocolate over low heat.
Cut the treats into even squares and quickly just shallowly dip the top side of the treats into the chocolate.
Turn chocolate side up and set in a baking dish or on a rack until set.

I am not a fan of white chocolate but my youngest son likes it so I'll post this for him. This recipe has peanuts and peanut butter too. Takes 2 hours to firm up. They freeze well. I found it in a community church cookbook that I bought at a book sale. Guessed the number of servings.

Ingredients

1 lb white chocolate chips
5 1/2 tablespoons crunchy peanut butter
1 cup miniature marshmallow
1 cup unsalted dry roasted peanuts
1 1/2 cups Rice Krispies

Steps:

In a large Pyrex dish, melt the chocolate in a 200 degree oven for at least 10 minutes.
Add the peanut butter while in oven about 2-3 minutes.
Take the dish out of the oven and mix.
Add marshmallows; mix well.
Add peanuts and rice krispies; mix well.
Spoon out with teaspoons onto wax paper and let stand about 2 hours.
Refrigerate in air tight containers. Or you can freeze them.

This recipe was handed down from my great-grandmother. I'm not sure when traditional marshmallow krispie treats came on the scene, but this recipe could have preceded it! These are what I grew up on. I do not like marshmallows, so I find this recipe to be perfect. You can also top with melted chocolate if you like. Original recipe calls for 1 cup sugar, but I found it to be too sweet, so I cut it in half. You may wish to add more.

Ingredients

1/2 cup sugar
1 cup corn syrup (light or dark does not matter)
1 cup peanut butter
6 cups Rice Krispies

Steps:

Bring corn and sugar to a boil, and remove from heat.
Stir in peanut butter until smooth.
Add rice krispies and stir to incorporate.
Dump into a 9x13 pan and press down.
Cut into squares, and enjoy!

Ingredients

1 cup corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup smooth peanut butter
6 cups Rice Krispies
2 cups mini chocolate chips, divided

Steps:

Line a 13 x 9 inch baking pan with foil. Lightly spray the foil with vegetable spray.
Mix sugar and corn syrup in 3 quart sauce pan until mixture boils.
Remove from heat. Stir in peanut butter; mix well until melted.
Add Rice Krispies, stirring until all are coated.
Add 1 cup of mini chocolate chips and stir to distribute throughout. (Don't worry if they melt).
Press into pan. Sprinkle remaining cup of chocolate chips over the top and press down slightly.
Cool. Lift foil out of pan and cut into squares.
I have found a pizza cutter works great for cutting them.

Place the mini chocolate chips in a bowl and place in the freezer until needed. It helps them keep their shape when you add them in later and the mix is a little warm.
Melt the white chocolate and peanut butter together in either a double boiler over a gentle heat or in a microwave on 50% power in 30-second increments.
Once melted add it to the rice krispies in a large bowl and gently mix together and then leave to cool for about 20 minutes stirring occasionally.
