1 cup tequila
1/2 cup fresh lime juice
1/2 cup orange liqueur
1 to 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
3 cups ice
4 lime slices, for garnish
4 small watermelon wedges, for garnish

Steps:

  • Combine the cubed watermelon with the tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, confectioners' sugar, salt and ice in a blender. Blend until smooth. Divide among glasses; garnish each glass with 1 lime slice and 1 watermelon wedge.

4 cups cubed watermelon
2 tablespoons sugar
3 limes, 2 juiced and 1 cut into wedges for garnish
8 ounces tequila
5 ounces Triple Sec, divided
3 tablespoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon chili powder

Steps:

  • In a blender, puree the watermelon and sugar until smooth. Pour the puree through a fine mesh strainer. Transfer the liquid to a pitcher and add the lime juice, tequila and 4 ounces of the Triple Sec. Stir to combine.
  • In a shallow dish, combine the kosher salt with the chili powder. In a second small plate, add the remaining 1-ounce of Triple Sec. Dip the rims of 4 margarita glasses in the Triple Sec, then coat them in the salt and chili mixture. Divide the margarita between the 4 glasses and garnish each with a lime wedge.

12 ounces watermelon cubes (about 2 cups)
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
3/4 cup white or silver tequila

  • In a small saucepan, bring sugar, water, and orange zest to a boil over high. Reduce to a simmer and cook until sugar dissolves, 3 minutes. Let syrup cool in a bowl. In a blender, puree watermelon cubes until smooth. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on solids, into a pitcher (you should have about 1 cup juice). Stir in syrup, lime juice, and tequila. Fill salt-rimmed glasses with ice, then pour margarita mixture over top. Garnish with lime wedges.

Ice, as needed
6 ounces fresh watermelon juice (from about 1 1/2 cups chopped seedless watermelon, blended and strained)
2 ounces tequila, preferably blanco
2 ounces Cointreau (optional)
2 ounces fresh lime juice (from 1 to 2 large limes), rinds reserved
2 to 3 thinly sliced jalapeño rounds (optional)

Steps:

  • Prepare the salted rim, if using: In a small shallow bowl or plate, combine the sea salt and Tajín. Set aside.
  • In a shaker filled with ice, combine the watermelon juice, tequila, Cointreau (if using), lime juice and jalapeño (if using). Shake to combine. (Note: The watermelon flavor shines brighter without the Cointreau, but the liqueur takes the drink into more traditional margarita territory. If you'd like to compare, first try the mixture without, the liqueur, then add 1 ounce of it per serving.)
  • Using one of the squeezed lime halves, run it along the rim of two rocks glasses, then dip the rims into the salt mixture. Fill the glasses with ice, then strain the margaritas into the glasses and enjoy immediately.

Nice on a summer afternoon to sip one of these on the deck and imagine that Martha might unwind in the same way...LOL!

7 1/2 lbs seedless watermelon, rind removed and cut into 1-inch cubes
4 teaspoons superfine sugar
6 ounces silver tequila (I used Patron)
24 basil leaves, plus sprigs for garnish
3 ounces triple sec
6 cups small ice cubes

Steps:

  • Place 24 watermelon cubes on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Cover and freeze at least 1 hour, or up to 2 days.
  • Puree remaining watermelon and the sugar in a blender until smooth. Pass through a sieve lined with cheesecloth into a bowl. You should have 3 cups.
  • Place tequila and basil in a glass pitcher and crush with a wooden spoon. Stir in watermelon juice and triple sec.
  • Place watermelon "ice" cubes in glasses. Using cocktail shaker, mix 3/4 cup margarita with 1 cup ice. Strain into a glass. Repeat. Serve garnished with basil.

½ cup white sugar
½ cup water
3 strips orange zest
2 cups cubed seeded watermelon
¾ cup white tequila
¼ cup lime juice
1 pinch salt or sugar for rimming glasses
1 lime, cut into wedges
2 cups crushed ice, or as needed

Steps:

  • Bring 1/2 cup sugar, water, and orange zest in a small saucepan to boil, stirring constantly. Simmer until sugar is dissolved, about 3 minutes. Remove simple syrup from heat and allow to cool completely.
  • Place watermelon in a blender or food processor. Pulse until pureed.
  • Stir watermelon puree into a large pitcher with simple syrup, tequila, and lime juice.
  • Place a small amount of salt or sugar into a saucer. Rub edge of margarita glasses with a lime wedge to moisten. Lightly dip the rim of the glass into the saucer to rim the glass; tap off excess salt or sugar.

8 cups cubed seedless watermelon (1 inch)
2 cups ice cubes
2 cups tequila
1 cup Triple Sec
1/4 cup lime juice

Steps:

  • Cut 1 lime into 12 wedges; reserve for garnishes. If desired, coat the rim of each glass with sugar: Cut remaining lime into wedges. Using these wedges, moisten the rims of 12 margarita or cocktail glasses. Sprinkle sugar on a plate; hold each glass upside down and dip rim into sugar. Discard remaining sugar., Place half the watermelon in a blender; cover and process until pureed (this should yield 3 cups). Add half each of the following: ice cubes, tequila, Triple Sec and lime juice. If desired, add sugar to taste. Cover and process until blended., Serve in prepared glasses.
