WASABI AHI TUNA TARTARE
An easy sushi inspired tuna appetizer for two. I use 100% cold pressed unrefined peanut oil because it retains a strong peanut aroma and taste. The furikake does all the heavy lifting in this recipe.

I got this little recipe from the comments section of Recipe #63831 (amazing salmon cakes!). Chef Mrs Rev suggests it and it's FANTASTIC! Thanks so much! Note: I use low-fat mayo and it's perfect.

WASABI COCKTAIL SAUCE
Steps:
- Whisk 1 cup ketchup, 2 tablespoons horseradish, 1 tablespoon each soy sauce and rice wine vinegar and 2 teaspoons wasabi paste in a bowl until smooth. Serve with cooked shrimp.
WASABI-SOY VINAIGRETTE
This all-purpose salad vinaigrette is reminiscent of the wasabi-tinged soy sauce you might have with a California roll. Soy sauce, rice vinegar and sesame oil waltz in time, while the wasabi paste adds nose-clearing excitement. As with any recipe, feel free to adjust the ingredient amounts to your taste preferences, especially the wasabi, which can be scaled down or up. Be sure to shake if it's been sitting in the fridge, as it wants to separate.

Steps:
- In a small liquid measuring cup or a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid, combine 1/4 cup water, the garlic, sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil and wasabi paste. Whisk to combine, or, if using a jar, seal tightly and shake vigorously until emulsified. Taste and add more wasabi if you like; the wasabi flavor will intensify as the vinaigrette sits.
- Use immediately or refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 1 week. This tastes great with any green salad, of course, but also with raw, crunchy vegetables, like cucumbers, sugar snap peas and thinly sliced asparagus.
TORO TARTAR WITH WASABI SAUCE
High-quality fresh tuna or fresh salmon can be used in place of the toro, which is tuna from the fattier belly area.

Steps:
- Chop the fish very finely by hand until it holds together. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the chopped fish, minced garlic, and onion. Form the mixture into six 2-inch diameter cylinders with your hand or using a 2-inch cookie-cutter round as a mold. Place each of the completed cylinders into a small serving dish.
- Combine the wasabi and soy sauce. Drizzle 2 tablespoons soy sauce-wasabi mixture around each cylinder. Garnish each dish as desired with green onion, chives, and a small spoonful of caviar.

One night, while I made some grilled talipa white fish, my roommate and I started to create this sauce. As he started to make it, I began adding things to it...and finally him and I came up with prety good sauce.

TARTAR SAUCE
Packed with crunchy, sharp zing from onion, and tang and savoriness from capers, this homemade tartar sauce delivers bold freshness. Once you've mixed the base below, you can stir in more of whichever ingredients you most enjoy. And if you don't like the bite of raw onion, you can soak it in cold water for 10 minutes and drain before stirring it in. Thick yet spreadable, this works as a dip, too.
