VAMPIRE'S KISS HALLOWEEN DRINK RECIPE

Vampire's Kiss Halloween Drink Recipe image

The beautiful Vampire's Kiss adds an elegant touch to your Halloween drink menu. Enticing, and deceptive...like a Vampire's kiss.

Provided by kayti Lavergne

Categories     Cocktails

Time 3m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/2 oz. Vodka (Titos)
1 oz. raspberry Liqueur (we chose Chambord)
1/2 oz. cranberry juice (we used sweetened)
1 1/2 oz. Champagne (our choice Barefoot bubbly)
1 tsp. Grenadine simple syrup
Grenadine-(as needed)
Red sanding sugar-(as needed)
Maraschino cherry

Steps:

  • pour grenadine to cover a small flat plate the diameter of your glass rim.
  • Pour the sanding sugar on a SEPARATE plate of equal size to cover the plate liberally.
  • Invert your chilled glass into the grenadine forming a red rim of syrup on your glass.
  • Invert the wet rimmed glass into the sanding sugar until the sugar clings well to the syrup forming a red rim.
  • Set out the rimmed glass and carefully lay the large round ice cube in the glass bottom.(do not disturb the rim).
  • Measure and pour the vodka, Chambord, cranberry juice into the rimmed glass.
  • Add the champagne next.
  • Finally drizzle the grenadine over the back of a spoon onto the large round ice cube. for the bloody Vampire Kiss effect. :)
  • a maraschino cherry suspended on a pick over the glass. A stainless pick will give you a bit of the stake in the heart vibe. A WOODEN long pick will really look like a vampire killer. :)
  • The large ice cube really helps reduce dilution of the drink. I highly recommend them.

Vampire Blood Drink image

Provided by Michael Chiarello : Food Network

Time P1DT15m

Yield enough ice for 1 big punch bowl

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 gallon cranberry juice
1 gallon orange juice
1 cup raspberry sorbet
1 quart seltzer
Body Part Ice Cubes, recipe follows
12 cups cold water
2 to 3 drops green food coloring

Steps:

  • Mix the juices together. Add the sorbet, softened, and stir until it disappears. Add the seltzer.
  • Before serving, chill with the Body Part Cubes of floating face and hands.
  • Pour into glasses and stir with glow stick swizzle sticks.
  • Color the cold water with enough green food coloring to make it stand out against the background of the punch.
  • Use packing tape to seal of the eyes, nose and mouth openings of the mask. Line the inside of mask with plastic wrap to prevent leaking. Place it in a bowl that will hold the mask as still as possible while freezing.
  • Fill with the colored water up to the line of the mask, making sure not to spill over if possible. Place bowl in freezer to solidify, at least 24 hours. Fill 2 food service gloves with colored water and twist and knot opening closed to make a tight seal. Freeze gloves for 12 to 24 hours.
  • When frozen, cut plastic gloves off. Take ice out of mask, putting hot water on the outside of the mask, if necessary, to help it come out easily.
  • Carefully float the face and hands in the punch.

12 VAMPIRE ANIMALS THAT DRINK BLOOD - TREEHUGGER

From treehugger.com
Occupation Writer
Published 2010-10-01
Estimated Reading Time 8 mins
  • Vampire Bat. Bats are a staple of vampire lore, but not many of them actually walk the walk: Of the roughly 1,000 known bat species, only three drink blood.
  • Candirú. The Amazon and Orinoco rivers are the only known habitats for this tiny, parasitic catfish, which attacks other fish by swimming into their gills — and is rumored to be able to attack a person by swimming into his or her urethra.
  • Female Mosquito. While they've been behind more human deaths than any other animal, mosquitoes themselves are actually pretty harmless. Males eat a vegan, nectar-based diet, and although egg-laying females drink blood to get protein, even they don't cause much trouble besides red, itchy welts.
  • Tick. Ticks are some of the most prolific vampires on Earth, capable of drinking up to 600 times their body weight in blood thanks to a stretchable outer shell.
  • Lamprey. Lampreys are ancient, elongated fish that look more like aliens than vampires (or fish, for that matter). They have no jaws, no scales, and spend most of their lives as harmless larvae.
  • Bedbug. As "nest parasites," bedbugs haven't had much trouble following humans over the millennia from caves and huts to houses and hotels. They hide in dark, secluded areas during the day — in mattresses, behind walls, under floors — and come out at night to drink blood.
  • Kissing Bug. Their name may not sound very scary, but "kissing bugs" can be even worse than bedbugs. They're bigger and more aggressive and, more importantly, often bite people's faces to drink their blood.
  • Leech. Leeches are related to earthworms, but most are a bit more vicious than their dirt-dwelling cousins. Some are ambush predators, lying in wait for victims like slugs and snails, while others are blood-sucking parasites.
  • Flea. Some bloodsuckers flee after stealing a meal, but not fleas. Rather than commuting to and from a host like mosquitoes or bedbugs, fleas often just hang out in their victim's fur.
  • Louse. Like fleas, lice are parasitic bugs that live on their hosts, but they're even more specialized — lice target not only certain animals, but certain parts of certain animals.

VAMPIRE FEEDING: 5 REASONS WHY VAMPIRES DRINK BLOOD! - …

From occultist.net
Estimated Reading Time 4 mins
  • Blood is their (only) food. Vampires are dead and immortal at the same time. In other words, they’re undead. In order to function and gain strength they need to feed off of living creatures that have blood (life force) coursing through their veins.
  • It’s a reproductive method. Vampires can’t reproduce in the usual, human like manner. They’re (un)dead so they can’t give life to anything, they can only suck it out from living creatures.
  • It makes them stronger while weakening their prey. Loss of larger amounts of blood can lead to weakness, drowsiness, falling unconscious or even death.
  • Sucking blood from the neck paralyzes the victim. Aside from causing general weakness, the neck is a pleasure center, an erogenous zone. This is why love bites are commonly found on the neck, and why people enjoy being kissed on the neck.
  • Eroticism. The erotic danger of a vampire’s bite has been eroticized in many novels and movies. Vampires even bite other vampires to add intensity to their love-making sessions.

12 FASCINATING VAMPIRE FACTS - SPIRIT HALLOWEEN BLOG

From spirithalloween.com
  • Vampires Have Been Talked About for Hundreds of Years. The legend of the vampire has been around for centuries within a myriad of cultures, the earliest of which dates back to ancient Greece, whose civilization lasted from 1200 BCE to 323 BCE, during which there were stories of people attacking others at night and draining them of their bodily fluids.
  • Why Vampires Drink Blood. Vampires drink blood to survive and, secondarily, for pleasure. This distinction may seem irrelevant, but not all vampires relish draining blood from living things (mostly humans).
  • How Vampires Manipulate the Mind. There are various abilities present in vampire myth, depending on the source. One of these powers is the consumption and/or manipulation of a victim’s thoughts.
  • Why Vampires Are “Undead” Many of a vampire’s powers can exist simply because of the fact that they are no longer living human beings: they are supernatural creatures that are classified as the “undead.”
  • How Vampires Reproduce. The forms of reproduction that vampires engage in differs from that of living organisms. Creating more vampires can be helpful in increasing the size of a clan or coven.
  • How Dracula Became a Vampire. The most notorious vampire in the genre, Dracula, from Bram Stoker’s Dracula, creates more vampires through biting humans (spreading his blood and venom), but the way he becomes the “original” vampire is up for debate.
  • How to Kill or Harm a Vampire. The main ways to kill a vampire include a stake (silver, wood, etc. depending on the lore) through the heart, exposure to sunlight, decapitation, removal of the heart, and contact with fire.
  • The Vampire Connection to “Vlad the Impaler” While the history of the vampire legend dates back to ancient Greece, the most notorious vampire, Dracula, is actually loosely based off of Vlad III of Wallachia.
  • The Vampire Disease: Porphyria. Vampire-like behaviors are often associated with the rare, genetic blood disease porphyria. This group of illnesses refers to a buildup of porphyrin, which helps hemoglobin bring oxygen into the bloodstream.
  • Why Vampires Lack a Reflection. Vampires also are thought not have a reflection in a mirror, or any other clear object/place due to their “soulless nature.”

VAMPIRE BATS - FACTS, DIET & HABITAT INFORMATION
Vampire bats have so much stealth that they can drink for 30 minutes without awakening the animal. If vampire bats do not get blood for two days, they will eventually die, but that is less likely to happen. Female bats are generous and will give their blood to other bats who lack food. Apparently, the bats urinary system accommodates this by releasing dilute urine consisting of …

At a minimum, during any given cycle of the moon, a vampire must drink as much blood as an average adult human contains (about five liters). THE EFFECTS OF DRINKING BLOOD AND A VAMPIRE DIET | PARTICLE
Whilst some vampires drink blood to make themselves feel physically better, researchers suggest that the desire to drink blood could stem from mental illness.
