1 lime, halved
Kosher salt
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (5 limes)
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (1 lemon)
1 cup Triple Sec
1 cup white tequila
2 cups ice, plus extra for serving

Steps:

If you like margaritas served in a glass with salt, rub the outside rims of 6glasses with a cut lime and dip each glass lightly into a plate of kosher salt.
Combine the lime juice, lemon juice, Triple Sec, tequila, and ice in a blender and puree. Place extra ice in a cocktail shaker. Fill with margarita mix, shake well, and strain into glasses.

"TRUTH SERUM" MARGARITAS

You'll know why I call it truth serum after you've finished one of these ! Be careful, they are strong. I avoid margarita mixes, because they seem to taste so artificial--there is no substitute for fresh lime juice. When limes are on sale, I buy lots and juice them all. I freeze the juice in 12 oz water bottles, so it's ready to go for "party time."

1 (12 ounce) can limeade
1 can fresh squeezed lime juice (use Limeade can)
2 cans tequila
1 can triple sec
lime wedge
Grand Marnier (to garnish)

Steps:

Mix limeade, lime juice, tequila and triple sec in a pitcher and refrigerate.
Serve in salted glasses with plenty of ice--skip the blender, just serve on the rocks.
Garnish with lime wedge& a splash of Grand Marnier.

Seeking a lower calorie alternative to the original Truth Serum (which uses lots of limeade, which is full of corn syrup and Triple Sec, which is loaded with sugar!), yet still refreshing and delicious (like the original Truth Serum), this is new take on Truth Serum will put a smile on your face!

Ingredients

1 cup fresh lime juice
1 cup tequila (anything decent like Sauza Silver, Cazadores, Hornitos...)
1 cup water
5 -6 tablespoons agave syrup
2 teaspoons orange liqueur (such as Grand Marnier, Cointreau, Origine)
1 lime wedge
salt, & sugar for the glass rim (equal parts of sea salt and sugar)

Steps:

Mix the lime juice, tequila and, water agave syrup in a measuring cup. Stir until the syrup is fully incorporated with the liquids.
Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of a glass; dip the glass into the salt/sugar mixture; take any excess salt/sugar off rim to make it look pretty!
Fill the glass just halfway with margarita mix, fill the glass the rest of the way with ice cubes and stir.
Pour a small "dollop" of orange liqueur on top of the ice (about 2 teaspoons).
Add a lime wedge and serve!
Make the concoction to suit your taste by adding more agave syrup (if you like it sweeter) or lime juice (for a more sour flavor).
