Ingredients

1 teaspoon cornstarch
2 pinches of salt
2 cups half-and-half or 1 cup whole milk plus 1 cup heavy cream
6 ounces bittersweet (60% cacao) chocolate, broken into small pieces or chopped
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

Whisk together the cornstarch and salt, and whisk in the milk and cream until cornstarch is dissolved.
Bring the mixture just to a boil over medium heat, whisking constantly, then reduce the heat and slowly simmer it, whisking frequently, 1 minute.
Remove the pan from the heat and add the chocolate. Let it rest for 1 minute, then whisk the mixture until chocolate is melted and liquid is smooth.
Whisk in the cocoa and the vanilla, and if necessary, reheat it over medium-low heat until hot.

Bring it just to a boil over medium heat, whisking constantly, then reduce the heat and slowly simmer it 1 minute.
Stir in the vanilla and serve.

2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons water
2 cups milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
whipped cream or mini marshmallows
1 medium banana, mashed (combine in blender)
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter (combine in blender)
1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
1 tablespoon crushed peppermint candies or 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon or 1 cinnamon stick
1 -2 tablespoon Grand Marnier

Steps:

Combine sugar, cocoa, and water in small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
Add milk and heat to serving temperature. Do not boil.
Add vanilla; serve in mugs and top with spoonful of wihhpped cream or marshmallows.
Stir or blend in flavor variations if desired.

They are always surprised to find out that it has no sugar. The fact that it is pure chocolate is what makes it so good and so fulfilling. I created this myself for me, but I am sure other people have thought of this too.

Heat up water and milk in a cocoa mug to very hot in microwave or on stove.
Add both cocoa and splenda.
Stir well and serve.
