SWEET CHERRY CRISP
Although it has been tweaked a little, the original of this recipe was seen recently on Paula Deen's show, Paula's Best Dishes, & we found this very enjoyable. Prep time does not include the 15 minutes needed for the finished crisp to cool before serving.

CHERRY CRISP - FROM SCRATCH!
There are many crisp recipes on the site, but I didn't find one quite like this one. There are no cans of cherry pie filling here. Yes, you too can make a cherry crisp from scratch, using real cherries! You could use this filling for many other things like ice cream topping, or Toast-tites on the campfire! Yummy!

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, gently toss first 5 ingredients together. Place in a greased casserole dish or 8 inch square pan.
- In another bowl, mix the rest of the ingredients, using a pastry blender or fork. The mixture should resemble course crumbs. Spread mixture over pie filling. Bake for 30 minutes or until brown.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream. You can substitute canned cherry pie for the homemade cherry filling if you want to, but why?
CHERRY CRISP
The very first time that I made Cherry Crisp, my brother happened to be visiting. He is an ice cream lover-but he passed up the scoops of vanilla that he tops most desserts with so he could taste the cherries better! Wheat, soybeans and milo are the main crops on our farm. We also have three small cherry trees. I apportion all of that harvest for this recipe. My husband's is the manager of a coop. I work part-time as a church secretary...teach piano in our home...and enjoy making clothes for myself and our 3-year-old daughter. Cross-stitch is one of my favorite hobbies.

CHERRY CRISP USING FRESH/FROZEN CHERRIES
I love this crisp recipe - you can easily use other types of fruit and has adequate amounts of fruit and topping. The topping is usually about a half-inch thick, so add more fruit to a 9x13 pan if you like a larger amount of fruit in compairason to topping

CHERRY CRISP (FROM COOKING LIGHT)
Wonderful dessert packed with fresh sweet cherries. Just the right amount of sweetness with a yummy crunchy topping. I took this out of the oven and went into another room. When I came back, my picky 8 year-old had eaten more than half! All I had was salted butter, so I omitted the salt in the filling and topping.
