1 pound broccoli florets
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 450 degrees. On a rimmed baking sheet, toss broccoli florets with olive oil. Roast until browned, about 20 minutes. Toss with soy sauce, lemon juice, and sesame seeds.

2 teaspoons white sesame seeds
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
2 bunches broccolini (about 1 pound), stalks halved lengthwise if large
2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
1 small piece peeled fresh ginger, thinly sliced
1/2 cup water
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil

Steps:

  • Heat a large skillet over medium. Add sesame seeds and toast, tossing, until golden, about 3 minutes. Transfer to a small bowl.
  • Return skillet to heat and add vegetable oil. Add broccolini, garlic, ginger, and water. Cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until broccolini is crisp-tender, about 12 minutes. Add soy sauce and cook until it evaporates, 30 seconds. Top with sesame oil and sesame seeds.

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 piece (3/4 pound) filet of beef, cut in 3/4-inch strips (about 2 cups)
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 scallions, finely chopped (about 1/4 cup)
2 small garlic cloves, minced
1 pound broccoli, florets cut into small pieces, stalks peeled and cut into 1/4-inch dice
1 cup low-sodium beef broth
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon dark sesame oil
Cooked rice, for serving

Steps:

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over high heat until hot but not smoking. Add beef, and sprinkle with the salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until browned, 3 to 4 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer beef to a plate.
  • Add scallions and garlic to skillet. Cook, stirring constantly, until golden, about 30 seconds. Add broccoli and 1/2 cup water. Cook, stirring occasionally, until mixture is dry, about 3 minutes. Stir together broth, soy sauce, and cornstarch in a small bowl, and add to skillet. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is no longer cloudy, 1 to 2 minutes. Return beef and any juices to pan; cook, stirring often, until beef is heated through, about 1 minute. Remove from heat, and stir in sesame oil. Serve with rice.

Finding easy and tasty side dish recipes is becoming more important to me than it used to be. I'm always on the look-out for broccoli recipes, so when I saw this one in Martha Stewart's little recipe magazine, I was thrilled & clipped it immediately. Try this with grilled steak or pork tenderloin.

3 cups broccoli florets
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon sesame seeds (toasted)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450*.
  • Spread florets on baking sheet, drizzle oil over and toss to spread evenly.
  • Roast for 20 minutes (browned).
  • Toss broccoli with remaining ingredients.
  • HOW TO TOAST SESAME SEEDS: place seeds in a metal pie plate, placed in oven with broccoli OR toast in a frying pan on the stove top. Watch carefully as they can burn mighty quick and don't taste a bit good like that!
  • ALTERNATIVES: Toast some slivered almonds with the sesame seeds and add 2-3 T. with the seeds. Yumm-a-licious!

12 ounces wide egg noodles (Blanched)
2 tablespoons fine sea salt
6 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 serrano pepper (Chopped Fine)
2 cups red bell peppers (Sliced Thin)
2 cups yellow bell peppers (Sliced Thin)
1 cup red onion (Sliced Thin)
2 fresh garlic cloves (Minced)
1 lb roma tomato (Chopped)
1/2 cup red wine (Rioja Reserve)
1 lb broccoli floret (Blanched)
2 teaspoons fresh ground black pepper
1 cup purple basil (Chiffonnade)
1 tablespoon lemon thyme (Chopped)
1 tablespoon fresh oregano (Chopped)
1/2 cup parsley (Chopped)
1/4 cup asiago-parmesan cheese (Grated)

Steps:

  • Bring a pot of water to a boil and add 1-tablespoon fine sea salt. Blanch noodles and toss with 1-tablespoon oil. Reserve warm pasta water.
  • Heat a saute pan, add 3-tablespoons olive, saute peppers, red onion, garlic and tomatoes until tender.
  • Add red wine and reduce by half.
  • Add broccoli florets, sea salt, black pepper and simmer until florets are tender; 2-3 minutes.
  • Reheat blanched egg noodles in reserved pasta water.
  • In a large bowl combine sauteed vegetables, egg noodles, Asiago- Parmesan cheese and remaining olive oil, fresh herbs and toss.
  • Sseason with fine sea salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste.
  • Serve egg noodles in warm bowls.
  • Garnish with fresh chopped parsley.
  • NOTE: *RIOJA Winery (Spanish Red Wine).
