Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Then line a 9×13 baking dish with parchment paper and spray with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside. (The parchments paper is for easy removal.)
- Cream butter and sugar together (this just means stir together until it's light and fluffy). Next stir in egg, vanilla, and almond extract. Scrape the sides of the bowl and stir again.
- Then stir in the dry ingredients and mix until just incorporated. It won't look like a traditional dough at first, but if you grab a handful it should stick together and hold its shape.
- Spread the dough evenly into the prepared dish and press down. Bake 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown! Remove from the oven and cool completely.
- Stir all frosting ingredients together until smooth and fluffy. Start by adding 3 tablespoons milk then add more until frosting is the desired consistency.
- Spread over cooled cookie bars and add sprinkles if desired. Cut and serve.

Steps:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9 by 13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or line with parchmeant paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- With your mixer on medium, mix together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the eggs (one at a time) and then the vanilla until well combined.
- Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients. Mix on low until combined enough it won't fly everywehre. Then turn up the mixer to high just long enough that you don't see streaks of flour. Scrape down the bowl and on the bottom to ensure that all the flour is added. Only mix long enough to combine the flour. (See more detailed instructions in the post.)
- Press the batter into the prepared baking dish. Bake for 25 to 27 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 1 hour.
- Using a hand mixer or a stand mixer beat the butter. Add in one cup of the powdered sugar, scraping down the bowl as necessary.
- Beat in the milk and the vanilla extract.
- Add the powdered sugar in a cup at a time untilt you get the consistency you are looking for. I used 4 1/2 cups.
- Finally add in the red food coloring, a few drops at a time, until you get the color you are looking for.
- As soon as you are done making the frosting, spread it on the cooled bars. An off set spatula works best to create a nice even layer.
- Immediately after spreading the frosting, add the sprinkles before the frosting begins to harden.
- Cut the bars into 24 equal squares.
- For best presentation of frosting, do not stack the cookie bars, but store them in single layers.

Steps:
- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a cookie sheet (12"x17" or 13"x18") by spraying with cooking spray.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, or using a hand held mixer, cream butter and sugar until light & fluffy. This will take 2-3 minutes. It will look dry and crumbly at first but then come together and get creamy after a couple minutes.
- Add eggs, one at a time, mixing after each egg. Add vanilla and mix well.
- In a separate bowl combine flour, salt, baking soda and stir with a whisk to combine. Add to the wet mixture and mix just until combined. Spread onto the prepared cookie sheet. * The dough should spread easily but if needed, drop large spoonful's of it all over the cookie sheet and then spread it out that way.
- Bake for 13-16 min, until edges are just barely light golden brown and the center looks pale & puffy. The center should not look wet at all, but it should still be very pale. Mine usually take the full 15 minutes. Let cool completely in the pan before frosting.

Steps:
- Heat oven to 350°. Spray a 9x13 baking pan with cooking spray or line with parchment paper. *I prefer to line with parchment paper because then I can lift the bars out, frost them, and cut them easier.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, or use a mixing bowl and a handheld blender, add the butter, sugar, powdered sugar, and oil. Beat until creamy, combined, and lighter in color.
- Add water, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
- Add flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix on LOW speed (to avoid a flour puff) and increase speed as needed, just until dough is combined and no flour streaks remain. *The dough will look like it's crumbled, but that's ok, this dough is a different dough than traditional.
- Dump dough into the prepared pan and use your fingers/hands to spread it out evenly, while pressing down gently on the dough. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sugar over top.
- Cook for 11-13 minutes. The edges should be a very pale golden brown while the middle of the bars will still be very pale. *Obviously every oven cooks differently. I never cook mine for longer than 12 minutes. If yours need more time, then let it bake longer. Watch carefully because you don't want to overbake these.
- Let the sugar cookie bars cool completely in the pan.
- MAKE THE FROSTING: Beat together the butter, sour cream, powdered sugar, and almond extract until combined. Add in the cream, starting with 1 tablespoon, and add more if needed. You want the frosting to be thicker so it will stay on top the bars. It's ok if you don't use the full amount of heavy cream or milk listed in recipe. * If you use anything that's less fat than heavy cream you will need less of it. Start with a small amount and add as needed.

Steps:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9x13 inch glass pan with parchment paper or foil, to make it easy to lift the bars out of the pan and slice. (Foil needs to be sprayed with nonstick spray) Or you can grease the pan directly with nonstick spray.
- In a large bowl or stand mixer, beat 3/4 cup butter on medium speed until it is soft and fluffy, 1-2 minutes, scraping down the sides at least once.
- Add the softened 4 ounces of cream cheese and continue to beat for 1 minute, until well incorporated.
- Add 1 and 1/2 cups sugar and beat well, 1-2 minutes, until fluffy. Scrape down the sides.
- Add 1 egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 1 and 3/4 teaspoon almond extract. Beat well. Scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl with a spatula. This is my spatula that I love and use for every baking project.
- Add 1 teaspoon salt, 2 and 3/4 cup flour, and 1 tablespoon cornstarch. Beat until just barely combined, scraping the sides and bottom again. Do not stir too much or you will make your dough tough.
- Transfer the dough to the prepared pan. Get your hands a little wet (shake off excess water) and press the dough evenly into the pan. (You can also grease your hands if you prefer.)
- Bake at 350 for about 25-30 minutes. Every oven is different, keep an eye on it. The bars are done when there are just a few golden spots on the edges, and the center is no longer shiny. It's very important not to over bake sugar cookie bars, or they will not be soft and chewy. (They will become dry and crumbly.) When a toothpick comes out of the center with no dough on it, they are done. If you are baking in a metal pan, it will bake a couple minutes faster.
- Let the bars cool completely on a wire rack. Do not frost while warm.
- Top the bars with one batch of The Best Buttercream Frosting for Sugar Cookies!
- To slice into clean bars as shown in the photos, slice off about an inch from all four edges, then slice into bars, cleaning your knife before making each cut.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a 9X13 inch casserole dish with parchment paper and lightly grease the sides of the pan. (I use parchment paper to easily lift my cookie bars out after they have cooled.)
- Using a stand mixer, beat butter and sugar for 3 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Add egg, egg yolk, vanilla and almond extract. Mix again. (To get room temperature eggs fast, place eggs in a bowl of warm-hot water for a few minutes.)
- In a separate bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Slowly add in dry ingredients to wet and mix only until combined. Dump into prepared pan and press flat.
- Bake for 16-20 minutes. The edges will just barely start to turn golden, then take them out and place the pan on a cooking rack!
- FROSTING: Beat butter, vanilla and 2 cups powdered sugar. Continue to add powdered sugar until you like the sweetness level, the frosting should still be soft enough to easily spread on your bars with a knife. If it gets too thick, add 1 or 2 tablespoons of milk!
- Once your bars have cooled, lift up on the parchment paper to remove the entire thing from the pan. Frost, immediately add sprinkles (if you wait they won't stick!), and then cut into bars! Enjoy!
