You can make mini banana splits for your baby and larger portions for the rest of the family.

1/2 cup heavy cream
3 bananas, peeled and sliced diagonally into 1/4-inch-thick rounds
1 pint frozen yogurt
Strawberry Sauce
Caramel Sauce for Mini Banana Splits

Steps:

  • Whip cream to soft peaks; set aside. Place banana slices around inside edges of 6 small bowls. Fill with a scoop of frozen yogurt; top with strawberry or caramel sauce, if desired, and whipped cream.

HOMEMADE STRAWBERRY SAUCE (TOPPING)

You can use fresh or frozen strawberries in this versatile strawberry topping sauce. This topping is fresh, quick, & easy and gives desserts that little something extra!

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 Tablespoon cornstarch
3 Tablespoons (45ml) warm water
1 lb strawberries, hulled and sliced in half (you can use frozen; don't thaw)
zest and juice from 1/2 small lemon (see note)*
1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar

Steps:

  • Whisk the cornstarch and water together until all the cornstarch has dissolved. (I just use a fork to mix-very easy.)
  • Place the cornstarch mixture, along with the rest of the ingredients, into a small saucepan over medium heat. Using a wooden spoon or rubber spatula, stir the mixture as it cooks. Break up some of the strawberries as you stir.
  • Bring it to a simmer and allow to simmer for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. After 5 minutes, remove pan from the heat and allow to cool. The mixture will thicken as it cools.
  • You can serve the sauce warm before it cools completely if desired, or store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Strawberry topping will be thick after refrigeration, so microwave for 15 seconds or warm on the stove to thin out, if desired.

1 pint strawberries, stems removed, quartered
2 tablespoons sugar

Steps:

  • Place strawberries and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat; cook until sugar dissolves and strawberries are soft, about 5 minutes. Transfer to a blender, puree until smooth.

6 bananas, sliced
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups water
1 (3 ounce) box strawberry Jell-O gelatin dessert
1/4 cup cornstarch

Steps:

  • Place sugar, water and corn starch in sauce pan.
  • Let come to a boil and stirring constantly boil until it becomes almost clear.
  • Add jello and let cool.
  • Slice strawberries and bananas and add the syrup.
  • a tsp of vanilla or almond flavoraing can be added.

1 medium banana, peeled and split lengthwise
1 scoop each vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream
2 tablespoons sliced fresh strawberries or 1 tablespoon strawberry ice cream topping
2 tablespoons pineapple chunks or 1 tablespoon pineapple ice cream topping
2 tablespoons whipped cream
1 tablespoon chopped peanuts
1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
2 maraschino cherries with stems

Steps:

  • Place banana in a dessert dish; place scoops of ice cream between banana. Top with remaining ingredients. Serve immediately.

  • Wash strawberries and remove stems. If you’re feeling ambitious, you can roughly chop the berries, but I say you’re already feeling ambitious enough by making your own strawberry sauce. So don’t sweat it.
  • Combine berries, sugar, and extract in medium saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for five minutes, stirring/breaking strawberries up with a wooden spoon constantly.
  • After five minutes, remove from heat and allow to cool slightly (if you have a glass blender jar) and a lot (if you have a plastic blender jar). When cool enough, transfer mixture to blender and pulse until desired consistency is reached. You can also use an immersion blender, which makes things super easy!
