SPIDER WEB MUNCH



Spider Web Munch image

This crispy snack is topped with a layer of chocolate and then decorated with a thin piping of peanut butter. A candy spider on top would complete the image for a creepy Halloween treat.

1 (12 ounce) package NESTLE® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
1 cup creamy peanut butter, divided
⅓ cup powdered sugar
3 cups crisp rice cereal

Steps:

  • HEAT morsels and 3/4 cup peanut butter in small, heavy-duty saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth; remove from heat. Add sugar; stir vigorously until smooth.
  • PLACE cereal in large bowl. Add 1 cup melted chocolate mixture; stir to coat well. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Using small metal spatula, shape into 10-inch circle with slightly raised 1-inch-wide border. Pour remaining chocolate mixture in center of circle; spread to border.
  • FOR SPIDERWEB: PLACE remaining peanut butter in small plastic bag. Cut tiny corner from bag; squeeze to pipe concentric circles on top of chocolate. Using wooden pick or tip of sharp knife, pull tip through peanut butter from center to border. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or until firm. Cut into wedges.

1 (12 ounce) package milk chocolate chips or 1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon crisco vegetable shortening
1 (16 ounce) box caramel popped popcorn, toffee popcorn such as Crunch and Munch

Steps:

  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • In a microwave safe bowl, add chocolate chips and Crisco.
  • Microwave until chips look shiny about 2 minutes.
  • Remove and stir until melted.
  • Quickly stir in popcorn. Spread onto the prepared cookie sheet.
  • Cool completely and break into pieces.

1 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
4 tablespoons butter or 4 tablespoons margarine
4 cups Corn Chex or 4 cups Rice Chex

Steps:

  • Combine sugar and cinnamon; set aside.
  • Melt butter over low heat.
  • Add selected Chex cereal.
  • Heat until all pieces are coated.
  • Continue for 5 to 6 minutes.
  • Sprinkle half of mixture (cinnamon and sugar) over Chex cereal evenly.
  • Continue to sprinkle sugar mixture over Chex until all is covered.
  • Heat one minute longer.
  • Spread on paper towel to cool.
