HOT ORANGE TODDY

- Combine the apple cider, orange juice, cranberry juice, spiced rum, if using, whiskey, sugar, pumpkin pie spice, sugar, orange slices and cinnamon stick into a large pot. Heat on medium-low for 10 minutes. Serve in heat-proof mugs or glasses.

- Special equipment: a 60-ounce (7 1/2 cups) pitcher
- For the syrup: In a small saucepan, bring the orange juice and sugar to a boil over medium-high heat. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and cool for 20 minutes.
- For the tea: In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add the tea bags and remove the pan from the heat. Allow the tea to steep and cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes. Remove the tea bags and discard. Pour the tea and syrup into a pitcher and refrigerate until ready to serve.
- To serve: Pour the sparkling water into the pitcher and add the orange slices. Pour the tea into 4 ice-filled glasses. Garnish with fresh mint, or basil, and serve.

- In a 3-qt. slow cooker, combine the first five ingredients. Place cloves in a double thickness of cheesecloth; bring up corners of cloth and tie with kitchen spring to form a bag. Add bag to slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours or until heated through. Before serving, discard spice bag and stir cider. - Lightly crush the cinnamon, peppercorns, cloves, and cardamom pods in a mortar and pestle or on a cutting board with the bottom of a saucepan. Transfer to a medium saucepan, add the ginger, citrus peels. Put the crushed spices in a medium saucepan and add the water. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer, partially covered, until aromatic, and the cinnamon stick opens a bit, about 10 minutes. Add the tea bags, immediately remove from the heat, and steep for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Remove the tea bags, and add the cider and juice of 1 orange. Return the pan to a medium heat and warm, taking care not to let the tea boil. Serve hot.

- Take large jug of apple cider and pour into large pot on the stove (or into the crockpot if you don't want to use a burner) Heat to a simmer.
- Then add the following ingredients to cider: orange juice concentrate,cinnamon,nutmeg,ginger and cloves.
- Sometimes I add the cranberry juice cocktail but you may leave it out if you wish.
- Let it all simmer for awhile (half an hour at least) The smell wafting through the house while the cider is simmering is simply heaven.
- Serve the hot spiced cider in mugs.
- For a nice touch,add a whole cinnamon stick to each mug.
- Having a large pot of cider simmering on the stove when company arrives is a sure way to make them very happy that they chose to come over to your house.

HOT ORANGE JUICE SIPPER
I received this in an e-mail from Florida's Natural Brand orange juice. It sounds absolutely delicious and comforting. I tried doing a search for something like this in an attempt to not duplicate it, but literally thousands of recipes showed up, because so many of them had all or most or some of the words in the recipe. So, for safekeeping, and to share with the rest of 'Zaar, I'm posting this Hot Orange Juice Sipper here. It sounds very reminiscent to an orange spice type tea. I don't know if I'll ever be able to try it personally though, depends on how instant tea powder treats my digestive disorder, but I hope someone tries it and lets me know how it turns out! :) Copied almost exactly from the Florida's Natural website. Other orange juice can be used, but since it came from a specific brand's website, Florida's Natural is suggested. Prep and cook times are estimates.

SPICED ORANGE TEA, HOT OR COLD
I found this recipe in a book I picked up at a thrift shop. I'm not really a tea drinker so like to find ways to get those good anti-oxidants without the tea taste. This is all orange & spice so I quite liked it. I didn't have whole cloves so made mine with a dash of ground cloves instead. I had one cup warm & then put the rest in the fridge to have iced, it was nice both ways.
