Ingredients

12 ounces Spam (1 can)
1/2 onion
1 medium cabbage
1 garlic clove
1/4 cup shoyu
sesame oil

Steps:

Cut SPAM into strips or diced.
Slice half a round onion and one medium cabbage thinly.
Chop one clove of garlic.
Heat sesame oil in pot.
Add SPAM & all other ingredients.
Cook until cabbage is done.
Serve over rice.

This recipe comes out of Hawaii and I have been making it for about 20 years now. It is very good, easy to make and everyone I have made this for loves it. I serve it on top of a bed of rice.

Ingredients

1 (12 ounce) container fully cooked luncheon meat (e.g. Spam), cubed
1 small head napa cabbage, cut into small pieces
½ cup water
2 tablespoons soy sauce, or to taste
1 tomato, diced
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the Spam™ and cover; fry until browned, about 10 to 15 minutes. Turn the heat to low; add the cabbage and water. Cover and steam until the cabbage is crisp tender, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove the lid, and stir in the soy sauce and tomato (if using). Season to taste with salt and pepper.

3 slices bacon
2 heads freshly cut swamp cabbage (hearts of palm), chopped
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

In a medium saucepan, fry the bacon over medium heat. Set aside, reserving drippings. Put swamp cabbage and remaining ingredients, including fried bacon and bacon drippings, in a 6-quart pot. Fill the pot 1/2 full with water and bring to a boil. Continue to boil for 10 to 15 minutes, until the cabbage is tender. Adjust salt and pepper, to taste. Serve hot as a side dish.
