SLOW COOKER SWISS STEAK
I threw this together in my crock pot one day and we loved it! A little time consuming because I sauteed the vegetables and browned the meat first, but it's well worth it. Browning the meat first gives it a better flavor. This is great with mashed potatoes!

SLOW COOKER SWISS STEAK AND ONION
Delicious and easy Swiss steak recipe that will have you out of the kitchen in under 20 minutes. I love to pair this with egg noodles or rice, being sure to get a good spoonful of sauce along with the steak. Feel free to add celery, green pepper, carrots, or your favorite vegetable. My husband isn't a fan of celery or green pepper, so I keep my Swiss steak simple.

Steps:
- On a large plate add the flour and salt and pepper. Mix this together.
- Dredge each steak in this mixture on both sides, transfer to another plate. Save any excess flour mixture, you will add this to the slow cooker with the meat later.
- Set a large skillet to medium high heat. Add enough oil to coat the pan. Brown the steaks on both sides, no need to cook through. You may have to cook the meat in two batches if your pan is too small, add more oil inbewteen batches. Add the browned steaks to the slow cooker. Sprinkle over any excess flour from the plate.
- Deglaze the pan that you browned the meat in with by adding the beef consomme and scrapping up any brown bits. Add to the slow cooker on top of the beef.
- Add the remaining ingredients, stir.
- Place the lid on the slow cooker. Cook on LOW for 7 hours or HIGH for 4 hours with out opening the lid during the cooking time.

SLOW COOKER SWISS STEAK
I got this from a magazine recently, I think it was Paula Deen's magazine. I've never used tomato of any kind in my Swiss Steak, but after I made this DH and I both decided we always want it this way! I serve this with mashed potatoes, but it will go well with noodles or rice, too.

SLOW COOKER SWISS STEAK
I found this recipe on Bettycrocker.com about six months ago. This has become one of my favorite recipes to make during the week. One reason is how easy it is and the second reason is the wonderful taste. My husband and I greatly enjoy this meal. I usually serve it over rice with a biscuit or dinner roll. Hope you enjoy as much as we do!!!

SWISS STEAK - SLOW COOKER
A great way to cook round steak so that its very tender and flavoursome. Its a hearty meal for winter and nice served with crusty bread. In case you're wondering - the recipe doesn't originate from Switzerland. This method of preparing a tougher cut of meat to become nicely tender is referred to as 'swissing' and that's where the name comes from.

Steps:
- Chop the vegetables into medium sized pieces and partially cook by steaming or boiling for about 10 minutes. The steak may be cut into smaller pieces if desired. Season the flour with salt and pepper then dredge the steak with it. (An easy way to do this without too much mess is to place the seasoned flour and the steak in a plastic bag, tie the top then shake well to ensure the steak is coated.) Note: At this point you may prefer to brown the onion, garlic, chilli and steak in a little oil in a frypan before adding to the slow-cooker to give a bit more flavour. I usually skip this step, however, mainly to save time and I find it still turns out beautifully. Place half the onion in the base of a slow cooker. Add in the steak and the remaining onion and vegetables. Combine the garlic, chilli and herbs with the tomatoes then pour this mixture over the steak and vegetables. Add crumbled stock cube and enough water so the vegetables are almost covered. Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on the low setting for 6-8 hours.

- Place diced onion and bell pepper in bottom of slow cooker. Trim excess fat from meat then cut into serving-sized pieces. Sprinkle meat lightly with salt and pepper.
- Add flour to medium mixing bowl then dredge each piece of meat, reserving excess flour. Place meat in slow cooker on top of veggies.
- Add pureed or diced tomatoes (including juice) and tomato sauce into the bowl containing remaining flour. Whisk until mixture is well combined then stir in remaining ingredients (beef broth, minced garlic, beef bouillon, paprika, pepper, mustard powder and Worcestershire). Pour over meat, stirring to ensure sauce is distributed evenly among the layers of meat and that it is completely submerged in sauce.
- Cover and cook on low for 7–8 hours. When the dish has finished cooking, carefully remove meat (it will be very tender) from slow cooker then arrange on a platter. Give gravy a good stir, season to taste using salt and pepper then ladle over meat. Serve remaining gravy on the side. Yum!
