SESAME-LIME VINAIGRETTE



Sesame-Lime Vinaigrette image

An unbeatable basic dressing that's equally delicious on a rice bowl, a pile of wings, or a crunchy carrot salad.

Yield Makes about 2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 large shallot, finely chopped
1 cup fresh lime juice
Kosher salt, freshly ground pepper
1/2 cup toasted sesame oil
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup

Steps:

  • Combine shallot and lime juice in a large jar or medium bowl; season with salt and pepper and let sit 10 minutes.
  • Add sesame oil, vegetable oil, soy sauce, and honey to shallot mixture; cover and shake (or whisk) to combine. Season sesame-lime vinaigrette with salt and pepper.
  • Do Ahead
  • Vinaigrette can be made 1 week ahead. Cover and chill. Shake to reincorporate just before serving.

3 tablespoons fresh grapefruit juice

Steps:

  • Shake together oil, soy sauce, lime juice, rice vinegar, sesame seeds, honey, zest, and grapefruit juice.

1/2 cup orange juice
1 garlic clove, finely minced
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/2 cup champagne vinegar
1 tablespoon grated orange zest
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 pinch cayenne pepper
3/4 cup olive oil

Steps:

  • Pour orange juice into a small saucepan over medium-high heat and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and add garlic and mustard and simmer until reduced by half. Remove from heat, let cool and transfer to blender.
  • Add vinegar, orange zest, sesame oil, sesame seeds, salt, pepper and cayenne and blend for 30 seconds to combine.
  • Drizzle in oil. Taste and adjust seasonings.

1 slice lemon, garnish
1 slice orange, garnish

Steps:

  • Chill a tall glass in the freezer until ready to use.
  • Place ice cubes into chilled glass.
  • Pour in grand marnia, vodka, cranberry juice, cranberry gingerale and lime juice.
  • Stir to blend well.
  • Garnish with lemon and orange slices.

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
½ cup extra-virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons sesame oil
1 clove garlic, smashed
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Steps:

  • Stir sugar and apple cider vinegar together in a small saucepan; cook over medium-low heat until sugar is dissolved, scraping sides of the pan to include all sugar granules, 3 to 5 minutes; remove from heat and let cool 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Combine vinegar mixture, olive oil, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a food processor; blend until the garlic and red pepper flakes are tiny, 1 to 2 minutes. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve.
