SAVORY SOUTHERN-STYLE CHEESEBURGER PIE
Steps:
- Gather the ingredients.
- Preheat oven to 375 F. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Crumble ground beef into skillet and add chopped onion.
- Cook until onion is translucent and ground beef is no longer pink, stirring constantly. Drain off excess fat.
- To beef and onion mixture, add minced garlic, along with burger seasoning or steak seasoning blend, salt, pepper, and breadcrumbs. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
- In a medium bowl, whisk eggs with mustard, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Stir in chopped dill pickle slices, if using.
- Stir egg mixture into cooled ground beef mixture.
- Add about 1/2 cup of the cheese and stir to blend.
- Pack meat and cheese mixture into pie shell and bake for 30 minutes.
- Top with sliced tomatoes and bacon , if using, and then top with remaining shredded cheese.
- Bake cheeseburger pie for 5 to 10 minutes longer, or until cheese topping has melted and crust has browned.

SAVOURY CHEESEBURGER ONION PIE
This pie is *so* good, if you love onions you will LOVE this, this recipe makes two pies! I most always add in dried chili flakes and a chopped jalapeno pepper in with the ground beef mixture to kick the heat up, one or two more onions won't hurt either, you can use frozen store-bought crusts if desired and the ground beef mixture may be made a day in advance and refrigerated!

- Fit each pastry into the pie plates and flute edges as desired; cover and refrigerate until ready to fill.
- In a large skillet cook the ground beef with onion, bell pepper, thyme and garlic until the beef is well browned; drain fat.
- Mix in Dijon mustard, Parmesan cheese and chili sauce; simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Season with seasoned salt and black pepper to taste; cool to almost room temperature.
- Divide and spread the ground beef mixture over the pie shells.
- Top ground beef with about 1 cup grated cheddar cheese; set aside while cooking the onions.
- In the same skillet saute the onions in butter with 2 teaspoons sugar for about 20-22 minutes or until soft and just beginning to brown.
- Sprinkle the top of the cheese evenly with the onions.
- In a bowl whisk together half and half with eggs and cayenne pepper then pour half of the mixture over the onions.
- Sprinkle about 2/3 cup Parmesan cheese over the top of each pie.
- Place both pies on a large baking sheet to catch any spills.
- Bake 425 degrees F for 15-20 minutes.
- Reduce the heat to 350 degrees and continue baking for 20-25 minutes or until filling is set.
- Let sit for 20 or more minutes before slicing.
- Delicious!

- Preheat oven to 425°F. Roll 1 of the piecrusts into a 12 1/2-inch circle. Loosely press into a 9-inch deep dish pie plate; crimp edges. Poke surface of piecrust all over with a fork. - Meanwhile, heat a large skillet over medium-high. Add beef in a single layer; cook, undisturbed, until lightly browned, about 2 minutes. Stir beef to crumble; cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Add onion and garlic; cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 4 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low; stir in mayonnaise, Worcestershire, relish, mustard, salt, and pepper until combined. Sprinkle with flour; stir to coat. Increase heat to medium. Add water; cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened slightly, about 1 minute. Remove from heat; stir in lettuce. Let cool about 10 minutes.
- Remove piecrust in pie plate from freezer/refrigerator; line with aluminum foil. Fill foil with pie weights or dried beans. Bake in preheated oven until lightly browned, about 10 minutes. Remove foil and pie weights. Return piecrust to oven; bake until bottom is dry, about 5 minutes. Remove from oven; reduce oven temperature to 400°F. Let piecrust cool about 10 minutes.
- Spoon one-third of the beef filling into cooled piecrust. Top evenly with 3 of the cheese slices, tearing slices as needed to cover. Repeat process once with one-third of the filling and remaining 3 cheese slices. Top evenly with remaining one-third filling.
