2 lbs shrimp, shelled and deveined
4 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon salt, to taste
1/2 teaspoon black pepper, to taste
1/2 cup beer

Steps:

  • Saute garlic and herbs in butter until garlic is slightly browned.
  • Add shrimp, stirring constantly, until shrimp are pink and done.
  • Pour in beer, simmer 1 minute more, and serve!

1 1/2 pounds medium shrimp, deveined (tail on or peeled)
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
3/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (or substitute standard paprika)
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 teaspoon onion powder
3/4 teaspoon cumin
3 tablespoons butter or olive oil
3 lemon wedges
Fresh cilantro or parsley, for garnish

Steps:

  • Thaw the shrimp, if frozen. Pat the shrimp dry. In a medium bowl, mix the shrimp with the salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cumin.
  • In a large skillet, heat the butter on medium high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until just opaque and cooked through, turning them with tongs.
  • Spritz with juice of the lemon wedges and serve immediately.

2 Tbsp. butter
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 lb. medium shrimp, peeled and deveined (thawed if frozen)
Pinch each red pepper flakes and salt
1 medium onion, quartered and thinly sliced
4 cloves garlic, sliced
1 cup beer (choose a pale ale or lager)
2 Tbsp. chives, chopped
2 Tbsp. parsley, chopped
Cooked grits, polenta, pasta or rice for serving

Steps:

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon butter with 1 tablespoon oil. Add the shrimp, red pepper flakes and salt; cook just until the shrimp turn opaque and lightly pink, 4 to 5 minutes. Transfer the shrimp to a bowl. Add the remaining butter and oil to the pan; add onion and sauté until softened and golden, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and sauté 1 minute; season the vegetables with salt and pepper. Add the beer and bring it to a boil, scraping the pan with a spoon and stirring to incorporate all the yummy browned bits. Cook until the liquid is reduced by half, about 5 minutes. Return the shrimp to the pan; stir to coat with the sauce and warm the shrimp. Serve over cooked grits, polenta, pasta or rice, and sprinkle each serving with chives and parsley. Refrigerate any leftovers. Serves 4.

1 lemon
3 pounds uncooked medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
2 ribs celery, chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed and chopped
salt and ground black pepper to taste
1 sprig fresh rosemary, chopped, or to taste
¼ teaspoon dried basil
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
¼ teaspoon ground coriander
1 bay leaf
¾ cup white wine, or to taste
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, or to taste

Steps:

  • Squeeze lemon over shrimp and set aside.
  • Heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, celery, and garlic. Season with salt and pepper and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in rosemary, basil, oregano, coriander, and bay leaf.
