SAUCE QUEENS COPYCAT "SIGNATURE SALSA"

Sauce Queens Copycat

This company's salsa is good but after a lot of experimentation, I'm now able to make salsa just like it at home. Not even my friends can tell the difference in a side-by-side taste test and it's a lot cheaper than paying $4.99 for a tiny tub!

SALSA QUEENS COPYCAT "CREAMY HORSERADISH SAUCE"

Salsa Queens Copycat

I was paying $5 for a small container at Whole Foods so I decided to make it myself. My family likes my version better than the "Sauce Queens" brand! This sauce has a wonderful, creamy, full flavor that compliments instead of overwhelming. We use it in place of mayo all the time. Perfect with steaks, London broil, prime rib, burgers, sandwiches, meatloaf, fish, an addition to your potatoes and even hot dogs! Amazing versatile sauce.

THE BEST RESTAURANT-STYLE SALSA

The Best Restaurant-Style Salsa image

This is the best restaurant-style salsa recipe-at least, by our family's estimation! It's pretty straightforward to make, and you can't help but dunk chip after chip after chip!

Provided by Kaitlin

Categories     Condiments

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 1/2 pounds tomatoes ((any medium to large ripe tomato))
oil ((any neutral oil with a relatively high smoke point))
1-2 jalapeño peppers
1-2 serrano peppers
1/2 medium Spanish onion ((or 1 small yellow onion))
3 cloves garlic
1/4 cup fresh cilantro ((roughly chopped))
1/4 cup white vinegar
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon liquid mesquite smoke

Steps:

  • Heat a grill over medium-high heat.
  • In a large bowl, toss the tomatoes in a drizzle of any high smoke point oil. Grab your peppers and onion, and walk them out to the grill. (You can also use an indoor grill pan or a cast iron skillet for this step. I've also had good results just charring the onion and jalapeno straight over a gas burner.)
  • Toss the oiled tomatoes, peppers and onion onto the grill. The goal is for the skin of the peppers and the edges of the onion to get some char, for the tomato skin to get blistered enough that you can peel it off, and for the raw edge to get taken off of most of the tomato. Don't let it get overcooked and mushy, though.
  • Remove the tomato, peppers, and onion from the grill. Put the tomatoes back in the same bowl you used to toss them in. Cover the bowl with a plate to let the tomatoes steam. This will help remove the skin. Use the blade of a knife to scrape the skins off of the peppers, and remove seeds as desired (we do not remove them).
  • Transfer the peppers to the bowl of a food processor along with the onion, garlic, and cilantro. Pulse a few times until coarsely chopped.
  • Using your fingers, peel the tomatoes. The skin should come off easily. If you can't get every last bit of skin, don't worry. Add the tomatoes to the food processor, along with the white vinegar, salt, and liquid smoke. Pulse until you reach your desired consistency (from chunky to runny).
  • Pour the salsa into a resealable container and transfer to the refrigerator. The salsa is best served chilled, so let it sit for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator, or ideally overnight, before serving.

KELSEY'S SIGNATURE SALSA

Make and share this Kelsey's Signature Salsa recipe from Food.com.

Provided by Food.com

Categories     Sauces

Time 40m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

6 small tomatillos, husked (about 8 ounces)
4 plum tomatoes (about 12 ounces)
3 garlic cloves
1 jalapeno
1/2 white onion, halved
vegetable oil, for brushing
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
1 teaspoon sugar
kosher salt and black pepper
2 canned chipotle chiles in adobo
corn tortilla chips or twelve 6-inch corn tortilla, quartered, for serving

Steps:

  • Prepare a grill to medium-high heat.
  • Brush the tomatillos, tomatoes, garlic, jalapeno and onions with some oil and grill over direct heat until char marks appear. Remove from the grill and let cool.
  • To control the spice in your salsa, stem and remove the seeds and ribs from the jalapeno for a milder flavor. Combine the tomatillos, tomatoes, garlic, jalapeno and onions in a food processor and pulse until mostly pureed, but slightly chunky. Add the cilantro and sugar and sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Continue to pulse until pureed. Taste and add more salt and black pepper if desired. Set half of the salsa aside in a serving dish. Add the chipotles to the food processor and pulse with the remaining salsa until combined. Add to the serving dish. Serve with tortilla chips.
  • Cook's Note:.
  • If making corn tortilla chips with fresh tortillas, heat 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until the temperature registers 350 degrees F. Using tongs, work in batches to fry the tortilla quarters until golden brown and crisp, about 30 seconds. Transfer to a wire rack over a rimmed baking sheet and sprinkle with salt immediately. Repeat until all the tortillas have been fried.
