2 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 cup water

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients together except water together.
  • Mix water in a little at a time.
  • Knead dough 7-10 minutes.
  • Roll out dough and cut into shapes.
  • Allow to air dry or bake at 325 on a foiled cookie sheet.
  • For each 1/4 inch of thickness, cook for 1/2 hour.
  • Allow to cool and decorate as desired.
  • Store dough in plastic bag.

Number Of Ingredients 9

8 cups Kosher salt
8 cups all-purpose flour, plus additional for rolling out dough
1/4 cup dried oregano
1/4 cup dried thyme
1/4 cup chopped dried rosemary
1/4 cup fennel seeds
1/4 cup cumin seeds
8 egg whites
4 cups cold water

Steps:

  • Place all of the ingredients in a large bowl and knead in the bowl until completely mixed. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  • When ready to use, dust a large piece of parchment paper with flour. Place a portion of the dough on the paper and cover with a second piece of parchment. Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Remove the top piece of parchment. Invert the dough over the food to be covered and remove the other sheet of parchment. Adjust the shape of the dough and remove any excess as needed

1 cup salt
1 cup cold water

Steps:

  • Mix flour and salt together in a bowl. Slowly mix water, a few tablespoons at a time, into flour mixture until dough is smooth and easy to handle. Knead dough for 10 minutes and let rest for 20 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C).
  • Form dough into desired shapes and arrange on a baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until dry and hard, about 2 hours. Allow to cool completely.
