1 onion (sliced, optional)
1 can Dr. Pepper
¾ cup barbecue sauce (or to taste)

Steps:

  • Place the onion in the bottom of the slow cooker. Rub the outside of the roast with salt, pepper and garlic powder.
  • Pour the Dr. Pepper over the pork and cook on high 4-5 hours or on low 7-8 hours.
  • The meat will be very tender. Using 2 forks, shred the pork and place back in the juices.
  • Add barbecue sauce to taste. Allow to cook an additional 30-60 minutes if desired.
  • Serve on crusty rolls with coleslaw.

This is a very popular dish at our house, and it could not be easier! Instead of rubbing the roast with the onion soup mix and then adding the cranberry sauce, you can also just mix the onion soup mix with the cranberry sauce and pour the whole mixture over the roast.

¼ cup onion powder
1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes

1 (3 1/2) pound pork shoulder roast
½ cup Creole-style butter injectable marinade (such as Tony Chachere's Roasted Garlic & Herb Marinade®)
¼ cup butter
2 large shallots, chopped
2 cloves elephant garlic, chopped
1 cup water
3 sweet onions (such as Vidalia®), peeled and quartered
7 red potatoes
10 large baby carrots
4 stalks celery, cut into 4 pieces

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a mortar, smash together 1/4 cup of garlic powder, 1/4 cup of onion powder, the crushed red pepper flakes, and 1 tablespoon of cracked black pepper until the mixture forms a fine powder. Place the spice mix into a large shallow bowl.
  • Inject the pork roast all over with the Creole marinade; blot moisture from the outside of the roast. Rub the spice mix all over the pork roast to thoroughly coat. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat, then cook and stir the shallots and elephant garlic until the garlic becomes lightly golden brown. Sear the coated pork roast in the hot butter on all sides until the spice coating is golden brown, 1 to 2 minutes per side.   • Remove the roast and set aside on a serving platter; surround the meat with the cooked vegetables. Whisk 1 tablespoon of cracked black pepper, 2 tablespoons of garlic powder, 1 tablespoon of onion powder, and the brown gravy mix together with 2 cups of water in a bowl, and whisk the mixture into the liquid left in the roasting pan. Place the pan over medium heat, and cook, whisking constantly, until the gravy has come to a boil and has thickened, about 5 minutes. Serve alongside the roast and vegetables.

4 tsp adobe seasoning (found in the mexican food isle at walmart)
2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1. place your crock pot on high, place roast in the crock pot, add water.

¼ cup balsamic vinegar

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the beef broth, balsamic vinegar, honey, and soy sauce and set aside. In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, salt, pepper, and Italian seasonings and set aside.
  • Cover the roast with 1 tablespoon of the olive oil and cover the roast with the dry seasonings.
  • Score the top of the roast. Heat oil in a large skillet. Brown all sides of the roast, but do not cook the roast all the way through.
  • Spray slow cooker insert with cooking oil. Add the pork roast and pour liquid over the roast. Secure the slow cooker lid and cook on low for 8-9 hours or on high for 6-7 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°.

6 medium russet potatoes, quartered
1 medium white onion, chopped
6 medium carrots, diced into 4 pieces each
4 cloves garlic, roughly chopped
3 lbs. boneless pork shoulder roast
2 tablespoons olive oil
6 sprigs rosemary, bundled
6 sprigs thyme, bundled
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup red wine
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons coarse salt
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon*
2 teaspoons dried thyme
1 teaspoon pepper
1.5 tablespoons cornstarch

Steps:

  • First, prepare your pork dry rub by mixing together all of the spices in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Then, prepare veggies. Quarter 6 russet potatoes, chop a white onion, dice 6 medium carrots into 4 pieces each, and roughly chop 4 cloves of garlic.
  • Place the veggie medley on the bottom of your crockpot.
  • Next, rub your pork shoulder roast with the dry rub. Make sure that every nook and cranny is covered in rub.
  • Heat around 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium/high heat. When olive oil is fragrant, sear pork shoulder for 2 minutes on each side.
  • Then, place the pork roast in crock pot on top of the veggies. Make sure you scrape the skillet to get all of the delicious bits of rub off of it and add that to the crockpot, too.
  • Create herb bundle, by using bakers twine to tie together thyme and rosemary and set that on top of the pork.
  • Next, in a large Pyrex, mix together balsamic vinegar, red wine, and chicken broth.
  • Then, pour that on top of the pork roast.
  • Cover crockpot and turn to high. Let cook for around 6-8 hours (flipping pork roast halfway through cook time, if you can, if you can't no worries!).
  • Remove meat and vegetables from the crockpot and discard the herb bundle.
  • Using two forks, pull the pork roast apart into chunks and set aside.
  • Place 1/2 cup of the liquid left in the crockpot into a microwave safe Pyrex. Whisk in cornstarch.
  • Place cornstarch mixture into the microwave for 45 seconds (mixture should be thick a gelatinous).
  • Remove from the microwave and whisk the cornstarch mixture into the existing liquid in the crockpot until it thickens into a thin gravy.
  • Place pork and vegetables back into the crockpot and mix, coating everything in gravy.

1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon fresh oregano, chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt

1 poblano pepper
1 green bell pepper
1 large red onion
6 garlic cloves
1 sweet potato
1 tablespoon olive oil

Steps:

  • Mix the cumin, oregano, salt, pepper and oil to make a liquid-y paste and rub on one side of the pork roast. let him hang out for a little while.
  • Turn on the broiler and put a stick (aka, not non stick) pan on the element and start heating it up so it gets pretty hot.
  • Put the poblano and bell peppers under the broiler, turning occasionally to roast.
  • While the peppers are roasting, dice the onion, garlic and sweet potato. the sweet potato should be in pretty big chunks so that it holds up during cooking.
  • When the peppers are done roasting, let them cool a little while you brown the roast. put the olive oil in the hot pan and follow up with the roast, unseasoned side down. let that get very nice and caramelized then flip to caramelize the seasoned side (the spices will burn, that's why you should do the unseasoned side first, it cools the pan a little, also, be aware that the seasoned side takes a lot less time).
  • Deglaze the pan with a little water and pour the resulting broth into the crock pot.
  • Peel the peppers (the skin should just come right off) and cut into big squares (about an inch or so -- well, however you want I guess, just cut them up).
  • Throw everything in the crock pot, and cook for about 7 hours on low.
  • Bon appetit!

2 pound boneless pork shoulder roast (sirloin roast)
kosher salt (to taste)
1/2 tsp garlic powder
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/3 cup chicken or vegetable broth
1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon honey

Steps:

  • Season the pork with salt, garlic powder and red pepper flakes and place it into the slow cooker.
  • Mix together the broth, vinegar and Worcestershire sauce and pour it over the pork.
  • Pour the honey over and set the timer for 4 hours on High or 6-8 hours on low.

4 pounds pork loin roast
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
5 cloves
2 sticks cinnamon
1 bay leaf
1 (12-ounce) can peppery soda (recommended: Dr Pepper)
1 1/2 cups dried apricot halves
1 1/2 cups pitted prunes

Steps:

  • Slice onions and place in slow cooker.
  • In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Season pork roast with salt and pepper, then brown on all sides. Place browned roast in slow cooker on top of sliced onions. Add cloves, cinnamon stick, and bay leaf to cooker. Pour can of cola over roast and top with dried fruit.
