GOURMET CHOCOLATE DIPPED PRETZEL RODS
I make these often for bake sales and around the holidays. They are so adaptable for any special event and great for all ages.

Steps:
- Melt milk chocolate chips in double boiler or in microwave (be careful not to burn in the micro).
- If you are using the white chocolate, wait until later before melting unless you can keep it over warm water.
- Dip each pretzel rod about 2/3 of the way up in chocolate.
- Lay on wax paper lined baking sheets, lining up the rods but leave a bit of space between them.
- Allow to set a little, but not completely dry (while waiting, make sure your white chocolate is ready).
- Dip a fork into the white chocolate and drizzle over the milk chocolate by gently swishing the fork back and forth over the rods but not touching them.
- Place your sprinkles or candies on a paper plate and roll each pretzel rod in desired topping (or just sprinkle on).
- Lay back on wax paper to set completely.
- These look great displayed in, or given in, a unique glass or mug.

- Place candy coating in 1-cup microwavable measuring cup. Microwave uncovered on High 30 to 60 seconds, stirring every 15 seconds, until melted.
- Dip pretzel twists into melted candy coating. Place on waxed paper. Let stand until coating is set.
- If necessary, rewarm coating. Dip top 2 inches of pretzel rod into melted candy coating; attach pretzel rod to bottom of pretzel twist. Place on waxed paper.
- To make reindeer, press on chcolate chips for eyes and red candy for nose using melted candy coating. Cut scarf from fruit roll; attach to reindeer using candy coating. Press on green candy for button using candy coating. Place on waxed paper. Let stand until coating is set. Store coated pretzel rods loosely covered at room temperature no longer than 2 weeks.

- Melt chocolate in double boiler over medium heat on stove top. Using tongs, or your fingers, quickly dip pretzels in chocolate allowing the excess to run off. Place dipped pretzels on waxed paper lined cookie sheets. Sprinkle with chopped nuts, colored sugars or other toppings. Allow to harden. You may need to refrigerate for a while to help this along. Once hardened, remove from sheets and store in a cool location, with waxed paper between layers.
- Tip: Package pretzels in clear cellophane bags or in vase for festive gift giving!

- Melt the chocolate chips in a glass mixing bowl or tall measuring cup. Do this in 20 second increments, stirring between intervals. It should take about 1 minute to fully melt. If it isn't melted after 1 minute, shorten the increments to 10 seconds and continue to warm until melted being careful that it doesn't burn.
- Once the chocolate is melted, dip a pretzel rod into it to coat about ½ to ¾ of the pretzel in chocolate.
- Lay the pretzel on the parchment paper and use your fingers to immediately sprinkle the holiday sprinkles on all sides of the pretzels. Keep on the parchment paper to harden for about 10 minutes.

- Place each color of candy melts into separate microwave-safe bowls. Working with 1 color at a time, heat in microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. Dip 10 pretzel rods in each blue, green and red melted candy coating, stopping 2 inches from end; allow excess to drip off. Immediately roll in matching colored sugar. Let stand on a parchment-lined pan until set. Reheat candy coating as needed. Adding 1 teaspoon at a time, stir melted black candy coating into the white until desired shade of gray is achieved; reserve remaining melted black candy coating. Dip the uncoated end of the pretzel rods into melted gray candy coating for handle; allow excess to drip off. Return to parchment-lined pan until set.
