RECIPE FOR ONE BIG CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE

Recipe for One Big Chocolate Chip Cookie image

This recipe only takes about 5 minutes prep, a few prep tools, and a quick bake in the oven and you've got yourself an unbelievably delicious chocolate chip cookie!

Provided by Jaclyn

Categories     Dessert

Time 17m

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 Tbsp (28g) salted butter
3 Tbsp (38g) packed light-brown sugar
1 pinch salt
1 tbsp whisked egg*
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup (40g) all-purpose flour
1/8 tsp baking soda
4 Tbsp (42g) chocolate chips, (divided)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Place butter in a microwave safe mixing bowl. Heat in microwave until nearly melted (you want it almost all the way melted, remove from microwave just before completely melted and stir to fully melt. You just don't want it too hot or it will cook the egg and melt the chocolate chips when stirring).
  • To melted butter, add brown sugar, salt, 1 tbsp egg, the vanilla, flour and baking soda. Stir with a spoon until well combined, about 20 - 30 seconds.
  • Mix in 3 tablespoons of the chocolate chips.
  • Shape dough into a 3 1/2-inch disk on a Silpat or parchment paper lined baking sheet, gently press remaining 1 Tbsp chocolate chips randomly over top and sides of cookie.
  • Bake in preheated oven 12 - 14 minutes, until cookie is golden. Serve warm or allow to cool on a wire rack then store in an airtight container.

MY BIG, FAT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

My Big, Fat Chocolate Chip Cookies image

Provided by Tyler Florence

Categories     dessert

Time 45m

Yield about 1 dozen 5-inch cookies

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/2 cup white sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 (8-ounce) block dark chocolate, coarsely chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper. Sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt into a medium bowl and set aside.
  • Place the butter, sugar, and brown sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer; cream together on medium speed until light and fluffy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula. Beat in the vanilla and eggs. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and continue to mix until a smooth batter forms. Turn off the mixer and fold in the chocolate chunks using the spatula.
  • To form the cookies, scoop about 1/4 cup of cookie dough into your hands and roll it around into a ball; place them about 3-inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheets; you should get about 4 cookies on each pan. Press down the tops of the dough slightly and bake until the cookies are light brown, 12 minutes for chewy cookies, or about 15 minutes for crispy cookies.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Repeat with remaining dough/cookie sheets.

BIG AND STURDY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

Big and Sturdy Chocolate Chip Cookies image

Chilling the dough is a key step in making these sturdy but tender, high and dense chocolate chunk cookies. The toasted oats are subtle and give the cookie some complexity without making them taste like an oatmeal cookie. I package these cookies in cellophane gift bags and tie with a twisty for little gifts.

What you'll need. Unsalted butter: You don't even need to soften the butter for this one, pull it straight from the fridge and start mixing! Brown sugar: You'll use more brown sugar than white sugar for a chewier, cookie. Granulated sugar: For extra sweetness and structure to the cookie. Egg yolk: I tested this with one full egg but to end result ended up too cake-like.
