1/3 cup salad oil
1/3 cup vinegar
2 tablespoons salt
1/4 cup garlic, fine chopped
4 (29 ounce) cans canned whole tomatoes, chopped
10 -14 jalapenos, chopped fine with seeds
2 large onions, chopped fine

Steps:

  • Heat salad oil, vinegar,chopped garlic,and salt to almost boiling,stirring often-do not boil-Set aside to cool.
  • To gallon jar add:.
  • chopped tomatoes-saving juice fron cans.
  • chopped jalapenos.
  • chopped onions.
  • then add cooled mixture.
  • stir to mix add remaining juice from cans to fill jar.
  • stir well and refrigerate.

This is by and far the best sauce I have ever eaten. My husband finally gave me his recipe and allowed me to take over the task of making it. The longer you simmer this, the more the flavors will blend. It is a nice chunky sauce. Don't cut back on the salt amount...it really is 5 tsps. If you like your green peppers and onion with a little crunch, no need to cook until they are soft. I usually make the sauce around lunch time and keep in the crockpot until supper time.

3 lbs ground beef
2 large onions, chopped chunky
2 green peppers, chopped chunky
2 -3 garlic cloves, minced
3 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
3 cups tomato juice
5 teaspoons salt
3 teaspoons chili powder
3/8 teaspoon pepper
3/8 teaspoon curry powder

Steps:

  • Mix ground beef, onions, peppers, and garlic in large pot and brown.
  • Remove from heat and drain.
  • Return meat mixture back to pot and add the remaining ingredients.
  • Heat until just hot and remove from heat.
  • Transfer the sauce to a crock pot and put on low heat until you are ready to use it.

2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 cup brandy
1 teaspoon real vanilla

Steps:

  • Mix dry ingredients and then stir them into a cup of boiling water.
  • Boil for 5 minutes and then add butter, brandy, and vanilla.
  • Serve hot over mince pie or gingerbread.

I got tired of trying different "store bought" BBQ sauces. They're either too thin or have too much vinegar. This will thicken when cooled.

2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
4 garlic cloves, finely minced
1 (16 ounce) bottle chili sauce (or ketchup)
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
2 tablespoons liquid smoke
2 tablespoons hot sauce (TRAPPEY'S Louisiana Hot Sauce)
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup honey
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon celery seed
3 tablespoons horseradish (optional)

Steps:

  • In a med. saucepan, sauté the onion & garlic in 2 T. olive oil until lightly brown.
  • Add remaining ingredients & bring to a boil, over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Set aside to cool.
  • -- use on ribs or chicken -- refrigerate any leftover sauce.
